OT - The Los Angeles Royals?

should call them the Orange County Kings. sounds pretty gangsta.

Interesting. That seems to suggest that they are pretty much on their way to Anaheim. Also odd that it didn't matter when the Cardinals both played in St. Louis.

If they move to Anaheim, I fully expect them to become the NBA media darling, much the way the Thunder have.

But I personally hope they are more L.A. Clipper than L.A. Laker.

This is really going to happen!

Those throwback unis they have been wearing are SICK! They should use those as their regular ones.

They should move the team to Vegas and call them the Royal Flush.

Three NBA teams but no NFL teams. I can't begin to register valid complaints about how stupid that is because it just doesn't make any sense. I'll just call it a victory for SoCal Blazer fans and leave it at that. I don't understand how two teams can possibly make money in the same market as a team as good (I just threw up in my mouth saying that) as the Lakers. There are so many other markets begging for basketball, but Stern just lets the owners destroy the finances of the league.

I would love a SoCal Triangle road trip! Get to visit Mi Familia!

Yeah, but on the downside of it, you're not allowed to bring all those oranges you'd be buying from back to Portland.

It sickens me that So. Cal is going to have it's own conference. The So. Cal teams' road trips will either be across town, or simply changing the floor of the arena.
Another competitive advantage for the Flake Show. One out of five of their games will be within a 50 mile radius? And they'll effectively have HCA in most of those games, too.

Not sure where you got the 1 out of 5 #, its actually worse.

45 out of 82 games will be out based within 50 miles of LA.

that'd be 55% of their games are in LA. Granted, 50% of Portlands games are in Portland, but it makes their travel time even easier on them.

The east is similar, the NJ/NYC/PHILLY/Boston............ Toronto/Detroit/Milwaukee/Chicago....... situation is a joke. We are fucked when it comes to geography and this league.

Three teams in LA is just stupid. They could at least move to San Diego.

It's pretty crazy to think that if the Kings move, the nearest team to the Blazers will be San Francisco, over 600 miles away.

The nearest team for the Lakers? 2 feet.

The Lakers would have 4 teams within the same amount of miles as Portland has to their nearest opponent (Warriors).

Clippers, "Royals", Suns and Warriors.

I guess the whole NW will become Blazer fans now! Everyone knows Sonic fans are now Blazer fans!

^HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That made me laugh out loud!

They're going to sneak across the border to visit you? That's nice of them. ;)
For some reason that made me think of that 'Born in East LA' movie where Cheech Marin, as American as I am, got deported to Mexico and keeps trying to sneak back into the country. Careful HCP, this could happen to you! :)

At what point to the other teams in the NBA start grumbling to the league office about the competitive unfairness of having teams in such close proximity that practically halves your road schedule?

If they move to Anaheim, they should change their name to the Lion Kings.

Hey, why not? The Orlando Magic were named after the Magic Kingdom. And, while I've never been fond of that name, it beats the Orlando Epcotts all to hell.

I thought when Clay Bennett and his co-conspitators stole the Sonics from Seattle, Stern promised the Emerald City they'd be first in line. Maybe that only applies to expansion franchises, not moves. Of course, Stern is now talking about contraction, not expansion. So, it may be quite a while before there are actually two NW teams in the NW Division.

How will Los Angeles support 2 Clipper teams and 1 Laker team? I just don't see how they'll sell tickets. After 1-2 seasons, 1 of the 2 Clipper teams will change owners and move out of town.

As for the name, you can bet it will be something irrelevant to the area, like Lakers or Jazz or Grizzlies.

There is 20 million people in So Cal. Orange county (Plus San Diego) is almost like Philly or Boston is to NewYork.

Do you see where there is speculation that Pritchard may be their GM?

Hoopshype headline this afternoon.

Per the t-shirt comment in another thread: We may need a T-Shirt that says: Please KP, don't hurt us. I could see him working overtime to work us over. That is, if we'd even deal with him, which maybe we'd be better off not.
