Don't get me wrong, Mike Trout is sensational in many ways. Exciting to watch play, and shades of a young Mick??? Tho' he can't switch hit, and he will never be another MICK, no fockin way....!

IMO, Trout will always suck hind tit, to someone else in MLB, or the AL. His legacy should be the 2nd best player in his time? Maybe, maybe NOT...

Couldn't get past Miggy. Offensively in most categories, Mike can't get past Donaldson, J. Abreu, Encarnarcion, Joey Bats, Cruz, Rios, or even Melky...Defensively he will never get past Ellsbury.

I'm not putting Trout down, he is a very very good young player, with all the tools, just saying his legacy will be 2nd best, perhaps.
Besides, living in So. Cal. I'm frankly sick of hearing "Trout's the best all around player in the game"...B.S....!!!

Only Fan-atics, remember who comes in 2nd best. The casual Fan, or general public, rarely can recall the History of who lost World Series, Super Bowls, Stanley Cups, or NBA Championships... or those who came in 2nd best.

2014 Compare:

* Best in AL

***Best in MLB

Trout: .306 B’AVG/ 16HR/ 53 RBI’s/ .988 OPS*/
WAR - 4.5/ OBP 3.95 / SLUG% 5.93/
Runs Scored- 49/ Total Bases 159/ Triples- 5/ SB- 9/ Doubles- 19

Tulo: .355 B’AVG***/ 18HR/ 45RBI’s / 1.082 OPS***/ WAR - 5.2***/ OBP .445 ***/
SLUG% .637***/ Runs Scored - 58 ***
Total Bases 160/ Triples- 1/ SB- 1/ Doubles- 15

...IMO, nobody, and I mean NOBODY brings his degrees of all 5 tools than Trout does.

hes currently leading the AL in ops and ops+, kind of a shame he quit stealing bases though

agreed that tulo is having an insane year but have you seen his splits? dude is hitting .252/.355/.465 away from coors

puig is nice but he isnt at trouts level at this point

Not taking anything away from Tulo but playing in Colorado gave many players great numbers.

That analysis says Trout is a 4 tool player....avg arm.

i agree, but i was responding to the thread title though.

btw, CarGo has the craziest splits away from coors this year... .184/.250/.360 on the road (small sample size of course) but coors is playing insane this year

last year he was actually better on the road than at home by a little bit

but in 2012 he was .261/.345/.404 on the road, .330/.389/.578 at home

ive always felt that coors has some crazy park factors but this is just silly

Check out the numbers of someone like Larry Walker, He was an okay player in Montreal, & became a great one in Colorado, as did several other players.

...based on current stats, there are a few players who IMO, don't belong on that list.

...IMO, nobody, and I mean NOBODY brings his degrees of all 5 tools than Trout does.

I've yet to see the kid who goes by the name of No Body play....:devilwink:

IMO the only C grade, of his 5 tools, is his arm strength. Not as strong as Cespedes, Puig, or a younger Ichiro. Then again IMO, Cespedes and Puig don't have the consistency of glove prowess as Trout either...(both Yoenis and Yasiel make incredible catches, or turn them into real adventures)...

my latent complaint isn't really about Trout himself, as much as it is the L.A. Media, beating the moniker to death....to a point I'm worn out hearing it......yet if the shoe fits wear it, eh...! (I should of said as much when posting this)...!

You ARE right 59, I'm just tired of L.A. Media. Trout is THE most Special young kid playing these days, no doubt. Now if he were only in Pinstripes....that may be a diff story...!! (I've been pissed at the Halos since they let Boston beat 'em in the 86 ALCS)...guess I got a chip still, on my shoulder, and shouldn't take it out on Trout...!!

The ONE MLB player I cannot stand in the game today, regardless of whether he had 100 HR's, 200 RBI's and a .400 B'Avg, with a Gold Glove on each Hand, is none other than Car-Go.....

Why....? I can't tolerate the way he raises his arm over his head when he hits a HR, and rounds the bases. I saw Car-Go a few games to many in upper A ball here in Lancaster, Calif. Lg. (Jet Hawks)....he then, without fail flew his flag/arm, with each HR, rounding the bases....I just wasn't raised that way, fundamentally I see such as pompous arrogance.....!!!

I subscribe to the school of Barry Sanders play, .... no celebration on the field, dugout ok....As one journalist said of Sanders (and I know MLB is NOT NFL)..."The way Barry ran into the End Zone with each TD, and flipped the ball, or handed the ball to the ump, said, I've been here before"

If I were an opposing Pitcher who gave up a HR to Car-Go, and watched him flag himself, I'd drill him every time....!!!

I've never seen Donnie BB, The Mick, Mays, Maris, McCovey, (or other epic greats) celebrate on the field, over any special feat and/or occasion.

Would you allow a Little Leaguer or High School Kid to celebrate in such a fashion if you were their Mgr...? I'd bench them if such happened, regardless, even if my job were on the line for benching said player pompous peacock(s)...

yes, I have looked at Tulo's Splits, so how does one explain Tulo hitting .403 Away and at Home versus LH pitching.

Tho' to be fair, I just watched Tulo fan on 3 straight off speed change ups, swatting at thin air, and IN CO...too... yet still .403 On the Road and at Home, is utterly INSANE....!!!

Both Andres Galarrarga & Larry Walker were 20 HRs guys in Montreal & became 40 HR guys in Colorado. As did Dante Bichette, Ellis Burks & Vinny Castilla. I mean you look at Castilla, 3 straight 40 HR season in Colorado, goes to another team & reaches 25 HRs once. Goes back to Colorado in 2004 at the age of 36 and hits 35 HRs & drives in over 130.

...wasn't that before they started keeping the game balls in a humidor?

I like Coors Field. Stood at the dish there (drinking a blue moon) during a tour of the field and locker rooms...it was a corporate event where they rented the stadium for an evening. Fun party.

its not so much the thin air (although that helps) but the fact that they designed the park with huge dimensions to counteract the thin air, only to leave that much more ground in the outfield to cover, thus the inflated averages as well as the homeruns

Sounds like the party was a blast, how many guests were at the event Tom?

1- Did you ensure the Garden Fountain was flowing with Coors, or at least the water drinking fountains, and NO not the Marble Fountains with little cupid boys, pissing Coors.... :abeer:

2- Was the Pitching Machine out for those wanting to hit some Rocky Mountain High HR's...?

BTW- Was that Blue Moon, you drank, distilled from Moon Rocks brought back by Apollo...?

Isn't that thin organic air, trucked in....?

...lol...you know, it would not surprise me one bit if they were giving the Ump different baseballs depending on whether the Home team or the Visitors was at bat...probably would not be that hard to do but would be difficult to prove.

...gotta believe it has more to do with the baseballs because the dimensions of Coors Field are the same for both teams...also has a lot to do with how the rosters are constructed. For example, YS had a rep for giving up a lot of HRs but guess what, they typically have had a lot of HR hitters.

yeah thats very true. i always hear about the short porch in right at YS, but it also helps to have LH power hitters lol

...^^^ yeah, in fact, just yesterday I had posted that the Yanx were 10th in the AL...below league average...even below NL league average.

Keep in mind that the home team has the advantage of being acclimated to the higher altitude...takes 3 days to get your altitude tolerance. You ever try doing the same workout in Denver that you do at home? Kicks your ass.
