Situation in Pakistan is getting worse day by day.

First, W decides its a good idea to use our forces in Afghanistan to attack Taliban forces hiding in Pakistan. Then the Paki government declares that they consider that attacking their country and they will respond with their military if we toss missles and such into their tribal areas.

Now their tribal chiefs have officially announced they plan to join the Taliban if the attacks continue.

We're not exactly "winning hearts and minds". Whats next? War with Pakistan?

It's an interesting situation there. It seems that the moderates are clashing with the "lets go back in time" group which I actually think is more than 50% of the population in Pakistan.

I say just leave it up to them to fix their own problems and if the moderates ask for help, then maybe send a couple of battalions.

I guarantee you we know exactly where each of their nukes are and have a plan on how to capture or destroy them if the situation with Pakistan comes to a head.

To discuss Pakistan, you really need to separate out the lawless border regions from the more populated areas in the Indus Valley. Their government has as much trouble with the tribal territories as we do.

Didn't obama state that he would be willling to attack Pakistan?

Obama said if elected in November 2008 he would be willing to attack inside Pakistan with or without approval from the Pakistani government, a move that would likely cause anxiety in the already troubled region.

"If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will," Obama said.

I mean, isn't this the same thing Bush said about Iraq?

I'd be willing to bet they have much MORE trouble with tribal terrorists than we do, but I get your point. However, the difference between the tribal areas and the more populated areas, in terms of ideology, is shrinking rapidly.

LOL, good point. Of course, we know the Pakis have nukes because AQ Khan has been selling their technology to the highest bidder. I have a buddy of mine that works in this area and it's his impression that Musharraf shared all of the information he had on their nuclear capability in case he was ever overthrown in a coup d'etat.
