Patrick Reed never thought he had a serious chance to win at Kapalua until he stood over an 18-foot birdie putt in a playoff Monday.

Like so many other times in his young career, he didn't waste it.

Four shots behind with four holes to play, Reed made two birdies, holed an 80-yard shot for eagle and got just enough help from Jimmy Walker to win the Hyundai Tournament of Champions for his fourth career PGA Tour victory.

Patrick Reed famously declared himself a top-5 player in the world last year after winning the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral. After his playoff victory Monday at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, the 24-year-old isn't far off.

Reed jumped to 14th from 23rd in the world rankings that were released Tuesday morning. When Reed made that top-5 comment before his win at Doral, he was ranked 44th in the world and the 23rd highest-ranked American. Now, only six players from the U.S. are ahead of him.
