We have all said stuff that was laughed at by others that proved to be correct, and most of us, myself included, has laughed at stuff others said that proved to be true. I wanted the Blazers to get Butler instead of the Wiz way back in the day, and people jumped down my throat that he was an end of the bench player. Conversely, I thought it ridiculous when people said that Noah would be a good center in the NBA.

Ha! I don't recall you taking much exception on my backing Noah's prospects, but I can recall a few others here doing so (cough cough EdO) after both his Jr and Sr years. Heck, I was in Chicago on draft day that year and saw their press collectively shit a brick on his selection, so you have a lot of company on that one. I'd called him a 6'10 Rodman so I thought if anyone would recognize his talents it would be them... wrong!

to give my horn a toot, I can't think of a glaring example of being wrong on a prospect in my posting life where I took a stand, and I've taken more then a few. About the worst I did was keeping my fingers crossed for years that Nedzad would pan out, but I never actually got to see him play live or on the tube... it was all a dream. I finally gave up hope when Storyteller called him a complete stiff after attending a game in Las Vegas during his 3rd summer league.

I'm not so sure I posted my distain here for Noah, but I did lose bet with a friend who told me to put my money where my mouth would because I kept making fun of his team drafting a "weak emo retard". I ended up betting him a dinner that Noah would be out of the NBA after two seasons. In truth I kind of figured I would lose, but my prognostication really got under my friends skin. But I never thought I would lose by such big amount.

Some time in the future, I think a thread just about peoples best and worst picks would be funny. Also, perhaps a thread about basketball bets would be fun. perhaps I'll keep those ideas till there is lull on the site, or until someone else starts the threads.

Noah still stinks. He's a good rebounder on a bad team. He's a poor shooter.

Maybe he doesn't "stink", but he's not good and he probably won't get any better, given his lack of offensive skill at nearly 25 years of age. He would have been a terrible first overall pick after his junior year, which I believe is when I made the strongest statements I've made about him.

I know you long preferred Nene to Amare, thinking that his extra inches of height made him a superior prospect

I'd love to have him on the Blazers then and now. Maybe you were more a quantity then quality guy as far as how often you'd weigh in against his NBA chances compared to how vehemently... I recall you as a regular weighing in against. Do we really have to dig those threads up?

seeing as I hadn't ever watched either of the two ever play when I made any predraft evaluations, I'm sure we'd find any reference to how they might fare in their NBA careers with those sort of "what do I know?" qualifiers. I don't pretend to have seen guys I haven't and only weigh in when I've come up with an opinion. On paper Nene has better measurables over Amare and I liked that he was thought of as an athletic defensive Big, but that was a wild guess rather then what I was referring to in my previous post. But... given a choice between who I'd rather have today on the Blazers and (regardless of injuries) I'll take Nene over Stoudamire. Less of a scorer but more of a Big + much better D easily trumps the 20.4 to 19.9 PER advantage.

I don't think this is a very good example.
