Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has bought a Malibu home.
..The modular, white stucco-and-glass house is on Carbon Beach, the "Billionaire's Beach" where Hollywood moguls David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg are owners. The roughly 5,800-square-foot home, listed for $29.5 million, has five bedrooms, a deck with a pool, a gym and a screening room, according to the listing.

Mr. Allen, who started Microsoft in 1975 with his childhood friend Bill Gates, owns the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, three yachts and significant real-estate holdings in Seattle. A spokesman for Mr. Allen said he has given away more than $1 billion and declined to comment on the house. Cathy Bindley of Sotheby's International Realty represented Mr. Allen. Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency, who declined to comment, represented the seller, Charles Perez, an apparel executive.

It's official, Blazers moving to Cali.

The Malibu Trail Blazers, presented by Chevrolet!

I used to work for charles perez the guy who sold that house to allen. he is loaded.......

by the way, my GF said she has seen the house and her impression is 80's miami vice style.

Hopefully he gives the house to the Hornets GM as a gift.

I live 4 miles away. I will drop by and see if this means the chemo worked.

Let's see, Damon, Darius, Theo, Zach, RLEC and Franchise... Yeah, that sounds about right.

Dick move, Allen. After laying off employees, buying a massive house. Shades of "Roger & Me."

No more than your "Dick" post. You are usually very grounded, but this one can't pass without comment. Who are you to tell Paul Allen what he can do with his personal holdings. Layoffs are business and his purchase was a personal expenditure. I, without question, have a greater percentage of my personal wealth wrapped up in a little cabin in Central Oregon than Paul has in his beach house and I closed down a business in April having to lay off six people. The business was not profitable, in fact it was a net liability, and I could not justify the payroll expenditure for no return.

Sorry to have annoyed you, I was simply playing up the "Paul is evil" angle. I would have attached a smiley, but they're too crude when you're doing jokes with a fine scalpel. When I'm rendering a serious opinion, I don't use terms like "dick move." But I can understand how it wouldn't be clear I was kidding.

Minstrel, you are supposed to put sarcasm in green.

I hear Malibu is a great place to brainstorm about GM candidates

Maybe he is cutting back. Maybe it is cheaper to have the team stay there then the hotel 4 times a year in LA!

OK... ok... ok... My Bad! I should have known it was tongue in cheek. You are a class act and I, once again, should have known better. (slinking back to my corner) :)

The story is only funny because of the persistent rumor that KP was fired (at least in part) for asking for a raise.

Personally, I find that theory real hard to swallow.

It was a cool joke, no worries.

So are you opposed to having him move in next door?
