Should be (realistic) target #1 in free agency imo. Jerami Grant has taken on a larger role while Bol Bol should be in Denver’s rotation next year. Millsap is going on 36, so financially it should be a realistic objective.

Plus shooter, spaces the floor, rebounds, defends, unselfish, great free throw shooter, great in the locker room. Just a very good overall fit for Portland.

he's part of the reason why denver is struggling. over the hill

He's done. 2 points and a -14 in the current game - and the Jazz don't even have a PF.

Paul Millsap, F, Nuggets: I left Millsap off the first two iterations of our 2020 free agent power rankings due to the fact that he’ll turn 36 next February. But the more I see of him this season, the more I’m convinced he’ll still receive a nice payday on a two- or three-year deal this fall. His .440 3PT% is a career high and his impact on the Nuggets’ defense shouldn’t be overlooked. The club has a 102.2 defensive rating when Millsap plays, compared to 110.7 when he doesn’t.

millsap is one of the possible FA stretch 4's that might be added and would be an upgrade. i have advocated for him. as good a fit if he opp's out of his player option might be JaMychal Green, who signed with the clips for 2yr@$5 per.

Millsap would be a great addition, but he'll be a pretty sought-after free agent by contenders. The Warriors would love to have him, as would the Rockets, Lakers, etc. There's no way he'll go for a veteran's minimum...just about any contender would offer him the tax-payer's MLE at least. I'm not sure if there's a contender that can offer him the full MLE, but if there is, that'll be in play too.

He’d be nice coming off the bench. That’s about it.

He has become largely unplayable in this series against Utah because he has lost a step and can't shoot well. I'd rather find someone more athletic and with a few more years left in the tank

He's shooting .435 from three-point range. While that's high for him, he shot .365 last year. I wouldn't say he can't shoot. And, as noted earlier, Denver's team defensive rating is significantly better with him on the court. Indirect measures like that aren't ideal, but they're the best we have. I wouldn't base my decisions off of one series, personally. It's entirely possible that he's just falling off a cliff and he'll be just as bad next year as he was in this series, but I think he still has a lot to contribute as a shooter and team defender--I wouldn't count on him as an individual defender, but the game doesn't turn on 1-on-1 defense these days, it's how you contribute to 5-on-5 defense.

at age 35? We need a starter who can play 30+ mpg. I'm fine if he's a bench guy, but we need someone who can't be played off the floor when he plays more than 15 mins a game. Now, Jerami Grant? I'd be all over if they want to open up room for Porter.

Im thinking we sit down with Brooklyn and discuss how each team can be made better with a trade:

CJ will give Irving and KD a 2-guard
Collins, gives them length

We could use another point guard and a small forward...Dinwiddie and LaVert would be nice with Dame, Trent, Ariza. Melo at swing 3-4 with Little and Gabriel and get Whiteside signed and happy to support Nurk -

CJ and Zach I was thinking would be good to trade with New Orleans as well..Jrue Holiday would be so good next to Dame....

I think his shooting this year is mostly a fluke. He has never been a consistent shooter and he did that +40% on just 1.1-2.4. That's not stretching the floor if you hit one per game. Most of his game is still on the inside.

Of course i believe he is much better than Zach though.

No thanks on Millsap, if that’s the missing piece we get in FA we will be having this discussion again after getting bounced in the first round next year. At this point it’s really a swing for the fences type trade or nothing imo. I’m so sick of adding washed up vets to squeeze a few extra regular season wins while we ride Dame huge minutes all year long. Trade anything and everything but get someone in their prime to pair with Dame and Nurk.

I think we need to add more quickness, speed and athleticism to this team; I don't think he would be a good choice.
