It makes no sense to me why he is staying. You would think that a guy with that big of an ego and as competitive as he is would want to see if he can compete at the highest level. He's taken uo as far as he can take them with 4 BCS bowls in 5 years. His choices were Cleveland, Buffalo and Philadelphia. Cleveland is a woeful franchise, Buffalo is the worst location in the NFL making it tough to run a speed game and even harder to attract free agents and Philly has the most brutal fans in the League.

I've got to agree on all of those points, and not only that, when we talk about job security, what he's done at Oregon has got to afford him several seasons of mediocre-to-above average results before they even think about canning him. After one bad season in Philly, they'll already be ganging up on the guy.

When you look at it from a risk vs. reward standpoint, he's got nothing to lose from coming back to Oregon. The best case scenario is that he wins the BCS Championship, has better options in the pro's, and gets a huge NFL payday in a good situation, whereas his worst case scenario is an (unlikely) disappointing season, where he still makes millions and has multiple opportunities to regroup.

Everything out of his mouth screams gigantic ego! My thinking has nothing to do with being a Wazzu alum and everything to do with the question, how much higher can his stock get? 4 BCS bowls and one of the top offenses year in and year out. Things can change really quickly in the NCAA's and all of a sudden he isn't the soup de'jour anymore.

I would have thought Arizona would be a good fit. They have some nice pieces, it's a decent place to live and you want to talk about a low stress environment, that's as low stress as you are going to find in the NFL. He has an ego and is a competitor or he wouldn't have gotten to the level he has, at some point he's got to test his ability at the next level.

It didn't matter who reached out to whom. The only factor in his decision was whether or not the sanctions coming down on OU include a BCS Bowl ban. He wants to stay, but would have shuffled off to Buffalo without blinking if his clown-costumed track team was going to lose Bowl eligibility...
