there are some penalties you just cant debate over...those are high sticks, slashes and cross checks...others like interference are more interpretation of the official and thus would be more incline for debate...but throwing a elbow to the head, slashing someones leg, cross checking the guy from behind or a stick in the face you cant complain about.
And please...that play happens almost every shift...
here is the article from the Post Gazette..
"It’s easy to blame a couple of bad non-calls for the Penguins’ 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers Monday night. The referees failed to call interference on Keith Yandle
after he abused Sidney Crosby midway through the first period. Seconds later, Carl Hagelin scored on a breakaway to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. The referees also missed Dan Boyle’s hook on Maxim Lapierre as Lapierre appeared to have a short-handed breakaway midway through the second period. Seconds later, Chris Kreider scored to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead."
OMFG...abused...or you mean actually put some defense up
now the hook on Lapierre...there is an actual case of that so that is fine with me if you are going to complain...
now more fun stuff...
"It’s also easy to blame the Penguins’ rotten luck for their second loss in three games in this first-round series. Kreider was the beneficiary of a fluke bounce off the backboards after a slap shot by Marc Staal and easily tapped the puck into goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury’s net"
Oh and the fluke bounce to Brendon Sutter in game 2 after a shot from the slot got blocked and neither Hank nor the defense knew where the puck went wasn't a fluke right? That was just Sutter being in perfect position? Or how about the puck bouncing over Hayes stick on the fourth goal?
Now in fairness to the author he did go on to say...
"But let’s put blame where it truly belongs. The Penguins didn’t deserve to win. The Rangers clearly were the faster team and the better team, at least for two periods. The Penguins turned it on late but came up with too little."
So he starts off saying what he really means yet throws this nugget in the end so he can not look like a homer....
Some great stats....
- That the Penguins came up short came was no surprise. They are now 0-20-5 when trailing after two periods. That has to be the most amazing statistic of the season.
- The Rangers got off to another fast start and have outscored the Penguins, 4-0, in the first period of the three games. They were the NHL’s best first-period team in the regular season with 84 goals and a plus-30 goal differential
- The Rangers NHL’s best road record in the regular season, 28-11-2.
Now the Cindy sucking up....
"Crosby, trying to build on his two-goal game Saturday night, was a force again even though he ended up with nothing to show for it besides an assist on Hornqvist’s goal. Crosby hit the left post behind Lundqvist late in the first period and had a great scoring chance midway through the third period only to be stopped in close by Lundqvist. He battled to the very end, trading shoves and face washes with former teammate Dominic Moore after the final horn sounded.
He had a welt on his check afterward" No mention of the pussy elbow to McD or the running into Hank...but hey its a Pitt paper right....
