I'm assuming Cronin has a player wish-list.
To me, that should be his starting point, not where Dame wants to go.
Cronin could ask for fewer other assets in a trade if he got the perfect player.

I really like Jeremy Sochan.

He could be our Draymond Green and hopefully stick with Scoot and Sharpe over the years. He's listed at 6' 8".

Scottie Barnes would be nice too, though he feels more like a primary (perhaps in his mind) than a secondary. Also a primary player on the Raptor roster.

What's a top player on your wish-list, and why?

Sochan and Barnes are probably the top 2...

Taylor Hendricks and Claxton are probably the next 2 for me.

Hendricks would be great too. Much better 3-point shooter (or he should be) than Sochan and Barnes, with huge length and shot-blocking ability.

I also like Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson combined in a trade. If that's possible.

I think Detroit would be under the cap ? or add in another player to deduct from their salary total.

A starter level player/star at the 4/5, who defends like a mutha....scores 15-20/game min, who is young and still ascending.

Is there really scuttlebutt to Dame wanting to go to the spurs too? I only heard someone give examples as to why, but not any sources.(that I was aware of)... Could it be a thing?

For this thread, let's for a moment disregard where Dame wants to go. List a player or players that would be a good fit for the Trail Blazers.

I don't think Dame is worth trading for a player (or players) that is not ideal and picks. I would want to try to win now with young guys of the highest quality possible.

Murphy and Claxton are at least somewhat realistic. Scottie? No chance.

Barnes is mine. I think he's the perfect combination of age, position, size and skills to be a long term fit with the Blazers and our young back court.

Dunno if he's available or not, but he's my guy of the moment.

you could give Ujiri Prime Jordan, Prime Lebron, Prime Kobe, Prime Shaq, Prime Magic together and he would still refuse to deal Barnes for that package. Just stay away from that idiot

Before a few days ago, there was no chance that Portland would trade Damian Lillard for Scottie Barnes.
To me, that means there's a chance.

Cronin has to go through his list, whatever the chance there is of it happening.

The Eastern Conference seems vulnerable right now. Dame would be a perfect fit and they'd be instant contenders.

Dame going to another Eastern Conference team would be quite bad for Toronto's chances.

Maybe not. But he could want a big swing right now. I doubt Dame would want them to move OG instead. I'd rather have Barnes anyways. If they gave us OG instead, and they worked on their outstanding protections of a 1st, they could offer a package of OG and three 1sts with Young, Porter Jr (expirings) and Boucher (Boucher has two years). OG would need an extension, though.

I would like that more than Miamis deal. OG or Barnes.
