Points in the Paint

I think we don't have much inside scoring and that most of our inside scoring comes from dribble drives and that our bigs aren't effective enough on offense

I think this is partly due to our big man options but also a lot of it is by design with our offense.

Interestingly, we're attempting more, scoring more, and scoring more effectively than last season.

Last season: 15.5 made shots / 25.5 attempts / 54.3%
This season: 15.9 made shots / 28.6 attempts / 55.5%

So, it doesn't appear that our bigs last year were effective either.

I think it's our options. Plumlee is decent on offense and on the pick-n-roll, Vonleh sets great picks and is a smart player, Ed Davis is good with rebounding and hustle, Meyers is a great offensive player but doesn't play inside that much. Kaman is good in posting up but it takes too much time and is uneffective and Cliff Alexander doesn't get any chance at all to show what he's worth

Our "big" last year was allergic to the paint. And I'm not talking about Fropez.

That's one of the reasons I thought a deal for Brook Lopez could work, he isn't perfect but he certainly gives you scoring in the paint

That's because he's a scrub. If he were ready he'd be getting time. It's like what I tell my son: make it so the coach doesn't have the option to leave you on the bench.

The bottom line is he's what 20-21? He has no post or inside game to speak of.

When you say he's not getting a "chance to show what he's worth" are you formulating this opinion because we don't see him in games? Because practice would also be a "chance to show what he's worth".

Minutes are earned.

Cliff Alexander isn't much younger than vonleh. Yet vonleh is starting. There's a reason, as you said.

People were really high on TRob last year and wondering why he wasn't playing much...now, it's no longer a mystery

...a low poster scorer would be ideal, Kaman is probably the "best" in terms of true scoring ability down low (but he is old and tired and content with jumpers if/when he does see the floor)

If that were true why would we waive Frazier for a roster spot? why not waive a "scrub" if Tim is actually suiting up for games and playing sometimes why cut him instead of Montero or Alexander?

So does that mean Alexander can play? everyone was raving about him during workouts, and all by accounts he is coming in early and staying late. I have a feeling Alexander and Montero are secure at least through summer league. There seems to be more room for optimism with these guys nobody gets to see. I think NO has got something up his sleeve with Alexander especially.

Olshey and Stotts said that Montero was a special talent that they wanted to turn into a point guard and planned to have the coaching staff mentor him for the future. He's got natural athletic ability that just needs to be developed. Alexander is probably the same scenario. CJ and Crabbe didn't play much for 2 years and their development paid off. You need those guys...Connaughton as well. Connaugton may become a Chandler Parsons type player. Looks so far like Alexander is wearing the suit more than the other guys

I know! And tim fraizer could have done that for us, huh?!

Solution: Paint the court outside the 3 point line.

We don't need more points in the paint at all. Dame and CJ are lethal and it's a perimeter attack. If we had a big man in the post that means less pick and roles, less shots for Dame, more time dumping the ball inside. Remember how much work it was to get LaMarcus the ball inside? You have to setup the offense around it. Dame has to move players into those positions instead of just lookin to create himself.

Now we could use a more skilled 3rd scorer but as a Chandler Parsons/Nic Batum style wing to help DameCJ. We don't need an old fashion post big man. I really enjoy the DameCJ show and want that to be our primary offense for years. Surround them with offensive role players who are great defenders. See how much Dame has improved each year; CJ may give us some nice surprises next season.

Parsons would be the perfect starting wing for this group... or someone just like him... with defense.

Cough* Whiteside cough*

we waived him to sign varejo but what exactly do you think montero is?
Right now he is a very raw prospect that needs some teaching. If he develops I could see him as a Livingston type. "If" is the key word here.
