What do think of as reasonable goals for salvaging this season. Is it wins and losses and a playoff berth, is it Andre and Roy learning to play with each other, is it Bayless getting burn, is it Nate getting the heave ho, or is it something else entirely? Vote and/or explain what you hope to see.

I hope you learn some grammar.

And the Blazers make it past the first round. Whatever it takes.

I don't see the option for "Blazers win the championship"

We have to make a trade.

As is, we can't make the playoffs. We poured our HEARTS into the games in Cleveland and Milwaukee. Played so hard and tough and still lost the games.

We need a trade.

Well, since it was multiple-choice, I selected all of them except the first option. I didn't choose the first option because I don't have the <fill in the blank>s. I don't believe in firing someone if there isn't an available option that has a good chance of being superior.

"Other" would be Bayless emerging with some more minutes per game.

about to post the same thing about Bayless claiming a starting spot/thriving this season. That would make me very happy.

I voted other, and that means I want Bayless to start.

. . .Nate got some perspective through his stubborn head, whilst able to watch the games from afar.

I would like to make the playoffs, even if it's squeaking in as the 8th seed and getting bounced by LA. When you consider the injuries, back to back playoff seasons is something to build on. Best case is we get healthy, and our young guys are getting burn and playing well - gives us some momentum for next season. My hope is that is sinks in at some point that Blake (for all his grittiness & heart) just isn't the answer and we see what Bayless can with 20+ minutes. And if Martell doesn't improve by February (who thinks he will?) by the time Batum & Rudy are back - bench him too. I don't know if there is going to be a trade - I sort of doubt it. But then again, it's hard to tell what's out there. A lot can change between now and the deadline - for us & for other teams.

I'd definitely file that under 'other.'

I have to chuckle a little..wasn't your opinion about 4 days ago that it was "totally doable" to get the 3rd seed in the West and make a deep playoff run?

no that was 3 days ago, 4 days ago you were winning the "ship, Oden was just dragging you down

I voted for McMillan to get the axe... I think that would ultimately be the best for this team.

JVG...nuff said

His teams made the post season in 9/11 seasons. He was a John Starks 2-18 performence away from winning an NBA title. His teams ALWAYS play defense. I laughed at this notion before, but now I'm curious.

we dont even know the gm's goal for this season. seems like hes tanking it since he hasnt even looked at making a deal. no trade = no playoffs.

if dick head doesnt decide soon... this season is toast (if it isnt already)

mortgage the future for a 2nd round appearance? Oh man I can see the ceremony now as the banner is lowered on opening night. I am getting misty eyed just thinking about it.

I voted for the coaching axe, no more injuries and a long-term benefit trade.

I don't really have a huge Miller crush---if Bayless and Roy learn to play with each other I'm ok.

Trade Travis's expiring contract for something useful, and if you really want him back, sign him this summer.

I'm enjoying the articles on how Rick Adelman will re-integrate McGrady. One side note of them is that Adelman is famous for not forcing systems on guys and letting them play to their strengths. He's obviously had some success and league longevity doing that. Which is my why of saying I voted to fire Nate.

I'm not sure who to replace him with but I'd be willing to take a flyer on Bill Laimbeer who led the Detroit Sparks to three championships in 6 years (maybe 7?). Does that mean he can work his magic in the NBA? Not automatically, but it sure beats recycling some other coach who wore out their welcome (Avery Johnson, Byron, etc.). Laimbeer is all about the team. He's also tough as hell which is something this team needs to pick up on. We've got a great group of down to earth nice guys with a lot of talent, but the NBA is a man's league and they need to go pick a fight now and then to let others know not to fuck with us.

Other:

Portland makes the playoffs, faces the Lakers in the first round and beats the living hell out of them for 7 games before falling in double overtime. Experts later all agree that LA didn't win the title in 2010 due to the grueling Portland series.

That is about all I can hope for this season.

I like it, except that I'd rather US win in double OT, and have experts all agree that we didn't win the title in 2010 due to the grueling L*ker series.
