How should the regular season play out?

You can decide based on what you think will ACTUALLY happen or on what you'd LIKE to happen - your choice.

Gimme the world cup. It's an asterisk season anyway; if they're gonna come back, may as well experiment with something different.

I wanted to vote for WC, voted play in on accident.

well, there is no poll option for 'just-cancel-the season-already'....I'll admit that part of my ambivalence is that in june-august I don't want to burn up beautiful Oregon days sitting inside glued to the damn TV watching a winter sport. (I also believe the odds are high there will be Covid infections/deaths associated with this to non-players and it could result in a black eye for the NBA)

but in the interest of entertainment (and reaching the 70 game threshold), how about this:

* take the top-16 teams in the 'current' standings and put them in a tournament for the NBA championship

* take the remaining 14 teams and put them in a tournament for the #1 pick and draft order. with the order reversed depending on the results. As in the tournament winner gets #1 pick; runner-up gets #2 pick, etc.

* take all of the extra pay that would normally go to players on playoff teams and award that extra pay exclusively to players on the 14 non-playoff teams

I'm not sure. yet, how to handle the status of all those unrestricted free agents on teams starting on July 1 (Whiteside & Melo on Portland for instance). But I'll try to come up with some idea that jacks up further entertainment value

I would chose to play out the remaining season.

1. Expand NBA draft to 5 rounds.
2. Expand team rosters to 20.
3. Limit minutes played in games by players to 24.
4. Play league wide 3 game series tournament

Yes, I just combined the NCAA March Madness with the NBA.

It reduces possible on court exposure to the virus while giving college players one last shot at an NBA dream.
