If you had to make one change in response to this Lakers series, what would it be?

I voted fire Terry, but I realize now that isn't a correct answer based on the way the question was phrased. I don't want Terry fired "because of this series"--I wanted him gone well prior to it.

If anything, I think this series probably highlighted the lack of depth/talent on this roster, suggesting that Olshey should probably be the primary casualty if this series is the impetus.

All top three need to happen, but at least Terry

This....all three of those.

  • Olshey has been brutal managing the cap and has CONTINUALLY overpaid players. (Leonard, Turner, CJ, etc)
  • Stotts hasn't figure out how to attack a trap in 8 years. Enough on that.
  • CJ needs his own team. You see how he can be when Dame is out but he doesn't come near approaching that when the two play together. They are not good defensively as a tandem and take up a HUGE amount of the cap for years to come.
If they roll these three out YET AGAIN next year. it will be the least I've followed the team my entire life. You know what is coming....and that hasn't change for years now. End it.

Let the cake bake.

Wait, that's 20 years out of date. That team was as baked as it was going to get.

I wouldn't predicate any changes on this series. The #1 seed is killing the #8 seed--that's normal. I think McCollum makes sense as trade bait, but finding a team that can use his strengths and cover his weaknesses isn't easy. The team should probably be looking for possible replacements for Olshey and Stotts, even if neither needs to be fired urgently. If a team loves Nurkic, I'd consider trading him--he would have been extremely valuable in a previous era, but he's a bit less so today. He makes the most sense on a team with lots of shooting around him. Maybe Portland can become that team.

Agreed all 3 need to happen. However, I have no faith in the architect of this team... so the change needs to start at the top to begin with and Olshey needs to be fired first.

Amen! If there aren't changes, I'm going to find a new team to follow (most likely Dallas).

To be clear: I'm not saying we can't have more than one option in time, but if you were granted one wish for a change, what would you use it on?
Also, don't read too much into "because of the series" - think of the poll as saying "at this point in time, given what we've learned".

I'm already there. I missed more than half the games this year for the first time since all the games became available on cable. The early-mid year effort level and iso misfires were a big reason, but product weariness was the main reason. In the end, the Blazers are an entertainment product they've been showing re-runs for quite awhile. Although the organization has an always the bridesmaid kind of feel, we had a pattern of legitimately stealing the show once every decade...77/78....89/90/91....99/00.......that was vital to re-energizing my interest. So, we're about 20 years overdue and I'm in serious need of an injection of something to get excited about. Those past Blazer teams didn't get out of the rut by standing pat. They all made major shakeups shortly before their individual rises. But, yeah, let's keep the same cast. The 21st year will be different.

I would change: The Blazers going into the playoffs with an injured team. But it wasn't an option. :mooning:

Olshey wouldn't include CJ in talks for PG13, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi or AD.

That is going to take some pondering. I get they were short or ending contracts, but.....damn!

Trade CJ.

Trading Dame shouldn't be an option for anyone. Glad no one has chosen it yet...

For? And don't say Levert, because he's already arguably a better player than CJ, so it wouldn't make sense for Brooklyn to deal him.
I just said the same thing in another thread... If they traded him they'd have to think that the bubble was an illusion, or that they'd lose Levert for nothing when he sees his minutes shrink next year.

I am in this boat as well, this team as constructed and coached is becoming more and more unwatchable for me, I watched less this yr that ever before and if they do very little then I will likely watch less next yr

I am convinced if Terry was coaching the Lakers they would be just as good, if not better. Vogel isn't a magician. Terry is working with what Oshley gave him. Sure mistakes are made during the game and that's on Terry and the players, but this roster and all the garbage picks and signings, we don't need to rehash them, is all on Neil.

Fuck he picked Zach, Anfernee, and Swanigan. Batting 0 for the last three. Only Zach plays like an NBA player, but now with perpetual injuries, its ever more apparent that he will not really help any team significantly.

How is that good for Brooklyn?

because EVERY homer here thinks CJ is an AllStar and just doesn’t fit with Dame. Brooklyn has too much redundancy once Irving and KD are back - so filling holes with CJ and a Collins makes some sense

How about "Get healthy"?

Do you really think that this team, with a healthy Ariza, Hood, and Collins, would have flamed out? We're missing 2/3 of our starting front line for crying out loud. Let's see what that genius Frank Vogel would have done with that.

Gimmee a break.
