Tactile-Minds_1614767c.jpg

A pornographic magazine for the blind has been launched - complete with explicit text and raised pictures of naked men and women.

The book, the brainchild of Lisa Murphy and called Tactile Minds, is designed to be 'enjoyed' by the blind and visually impaired - and is on sale for £150.

Among the 17 raised images include a naked woman in a 'disco pose', a woman with 'perfect breasts' and a 'male love robot'.

Canadian Lisa says that she made the book to fill a gap in the market, adding: "There are no books of tactile pictures of nudes for adults.

"We're breaking new ground. Playboy has an edition with Braille wording, but there are no pictures."

She said that she made the book after realising that the 'blind have been left out in a culture saturated with sexual images'.

One post for the seeing and one post for the blind.

(I don't know how that happened, I edited my original post to include a picture and some how ended up with a second post)

I was once told if I touched myself too much, I would go blind. I guess there's a significant market of people who went too far.

Kind of weird to see how that works. I mean, you can stare at a picture of tits and imagine the tits are next to you. But if your sweaty hands are fondling a piece of paper, well, isn't it going to feel like origami?

*shrug* My theory is that all those rubber vaginas you see in porn shops are bought by blind people. Because really, who the fuck else wants to look at them?

Assuming this actually works then, in both cases, I think it's a matter of conceptualization. Sighted people see a 2D representation and it evokes the feelings they get when they're looking at the real thing, in the flesh. Blind people feel a tactile representation and it evokes the feelings they get when they're interacting with the real thing, in the flesh.

You're intelligent because you use the word 'conceptualization.'

I guess, except that the nature of a tactile experience is that there is no perspective.

Sighted people are used to seeing women who are 15 feet away and are foreshortened to 6 inches tall, merely because of the optical illusion of perspective. So it's not a big leap to see a 6" tall version of "THE"s wife in a magazine and imagine she's next to you.

But if you are blind, you are used to fondling life-sized only versions. A 6" tall paper replica of "THE"'s wife is going to feel like some kind of a weird freakishly tiny paper midget. Which is kind of an interesting fetish, I guess, but not exactly traditional porn.

*shrug* I wish I knew a blind person. It'd be interesting to hear what they think.

Finally the perfect present for the NBA referee on your Christmas list!

damnit I must have caught the word ref in the corner of my eye in this post, I wanted to use a similar joke.

Yes but the braille Playboy was text only, didn't have bumpy pictures.

Might as well just have bought the braille Penthouse Letters.

I swear I've seen one with bumpy pictures before, but maybe I'm dreaming.

A lot of the pictures had bumps on them after I got done looking at them but that wasn't braille.
