So everytime I ride, I pay with Apple Pay on my phone but I look around and no one else seems to be paying. Should I stop?

You can pay a lot of different ways. I use the trimet app and just validate tickets on my phone, so to you it looks like I didn't pay.

Also, a lot of people who use public transit every day get a monthly trimet pass. Others, will buy a day pass. You aren't necessarily going to see people purchasing something that is already stowed away in their wallet.

I use a hop card

Looks like they've stopped demanding to see paid tickets to ride due to a court ruling. I guess I'm old fashioned, when they say the rules are that you need to pay to ride, I pay to ride. I'm just that way and I always have been.

What was the context of the court ruling? I’ll keep paying, guys, thanks.

They said it was some kind of Constitutional issue and they fare inspectors were now pretty much out of a job. I have no idea how they can now force anyone to buy a ticket. You still have to show the bus driver that you've paid your fare before you get on the bus.

Surely, there's someone out there that knows more about this than me. Speak up.
