At this point, is there any doubt? At this rate they will be the story of the year in all American professional sports. What a ride. Any way we can keep this up? I'm just amazed the national media hasn't attached itself to this story yet. It's just a matter of time....

I still feel like Houston is the story of the year. To do what they are doing without a true star is impressive. While what we have been doing is nice, most of the games we have had a star in Roy who shows he can carry us. There were impressive games we have played without him like San Antonio, Detroit tonight, Philly (sort of), and of course Boston even though it was a loss. Houston has just been good without the services of Yao.

Please, it's a bigger story nationally that Kobe and Pau are dinged up (yet can still play). "Wow, Kobe went 10-31 from the field DESPITE his finger!!!"

Blazer fans (including myself, unfortunately) have such a desperate desire for national acceptence. We have such an inferiority complex that we see any perceived slight to be a personal shot against the Blazers and us as fans. Yes, the Blazers are a great story this year, one worthy of national attention... and would be if the Blazers were based out of LA, NY, Chicago.. but because it's in Portland... if a team wins a game and no one sees it, do they really win?

Nobody outside of the states of Oregon and Washington gives a rat's ass about the Blazers. They don't sell tickets, they don't bring ratings, and everyone wishes they could just be the Washington Generals, cannon fodder for the big boys and go away.

Blazer fans get by on two things... hope and hatred. Hope for unlikely success, and hatred for the way the team is treated by the media. It's an odd mix, but it seems to work.

If LeBron or Kobe misses a game, they would probably get more attention and time on ESPN than a game where there is a buzzer beater. Try going to nba.com and not seeing a picture of Kobe or Lebron on the homepage somewhere.

As much as I understand where most of you are coming from, I completely believe a story is developing nationally for our Blazers. It's not like there are that many story lines in the NBA to begin with. Something is coming.

first of all the guy who said the rockets are a better story needs his head examined. its not even in the same universe.

we are winning without top players. we are playing 2 late draft picks at PF and center. we start a 16 year vet whos 90 at center. our owner is almost dead. our coach isnt able to walk. we are a top 4 seed in the west. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Anyway im not wasting another minute on that morons comments. Its too bad the national media is so fucking blind that this team will not get the coverage it deserves. jason quick could right a best seller on this season. if this team makes the playoffs... and the nobody recognizes it... then we can offically say teh national media is an absolute joke.

somebody needs to email the major sports networks and let them know the biggest story of teh nab season is in Portland.

And besides, where did I say Houston was better? I merely said, it is impressive what they are doing without a true star. We at least have a star in Roy who has played most of the games. He is like LeBron to us (not as good as LeBron), but someone who can still battle and help his team out every night to get a win. Houston, who was considered by just about everyone to be a lotto team and a terrible team as well, to post the record they have is impressive. Perhaps, instead of getting so worked up over my post, you should take time to realize that they have done better then you, I, or anyone thought instead of calling me a "jackass" or a "moron."

Yes, we have missed them, missing Yao is huge for them, it essentially means they have a small center as well, much like us. We have had our star, like I have said for most of the games. Yes they have a great coach, but the way their team is playing is impressive. And we don't really lose much by losing our owner (not trying to be disrespectful with this comment) and I thought most people wanted the coach gone anyway, so what? It isn't a dumb comment like you think it is. Houston is playing extremely well. We are too, both teams have been good with unexpected things happening.

But that is okay, everytime you make a dumb comment (which seems to be often) I will go ahead and call you a "jackass" or a "moron."

Portland is merely surprising those who always scoff at our "depth" and claim I and others over-rate our younger players.

It is now clear they are each every bit as talented as I have said all along. This is what I expect from such a deep team, and would be disappointed with less. Trade Old Man Miller for a big and BAKE IT!

This was true 3 years ago.

Due to Comcast withholding TV games in most of rural Oregon for 2 years, the other media have followed suit and dropped all coverage other than the mandatory game wrap-up paragraph in the paper. There is poor to no radio coverage/reception in many areas, and college games always bump the Blazers when conflicts arise. The Blazers no longer advertise in Beautiful Central Oregon, and have ceased their tradition of playing a pre-season game here.

Generally speaking, nobody outside of the Portland area gives a rat's ass about the Blazers.
