If we are a top 2 seed, Dame may not be our only All Star. Grant and Ant may make it too. Which will piss off Nurk. If we’re for real, it’s a storyline to start following. What are your thoughts?

Would be awesome .....I kind of selfishly like for them to have timeoff over the allstar break but I know it's an honor.

I think Dame will be our only all star regardless... this season. I think if we sustain that through the rest of the season and have a good showing in the playoffs, followed by more sustaining that level of success next season, then we could see multiple all stars from this roster or a very similar one. I would also think that Jerami and Ant would be the selections at that point. I do not think Nurk would be salty.

What storyline are you talking about—Portland having 3 AS’s? Or Nurk being mad if we have 3 AS’s?

As it stands, I don't believe either Ant nor Grant are playing well enough to earn an all-star berth. If I were to pick (~)10-game all-stars from the western conference, they would be:
  • Steph/Luka/AD/Markkanen/Jokic (starters)
  • Morant/SGA/Booker/Dame/Pg13/Lebron/Zion (reserves)
I'm sure someone going to come back with someone else I left out (KAT? Keldon Johnson? Desmond Bane? De'Aaron Fox?) Regardless, I don't see any of our guys cracking that lineup.

(And don't come back to me complaining about having two Lakers on there when their team's terrible-- those guys are still putting up all-star numbers even if the rest of their team sucks.)

My thoughts are at a +1 point differential per game there’s no reason to believe we will be a top 2 seed without a lot of improvement.

10 games in and we have a thread about getting multiple all stars out of the west? Seems like someone must be new to the NBA game and needs a little more learning before they post!

Right now Ant is 15th in the West in scoring at 22.4, and only averages 4 assists. He also has a worse fg% than all the guys in front of him. If we keep winning and Ant ups that to around 25 with better shooting, I could see it, but I think Dame we be our only all star again

It's 1/8th of the season almost though.

the 41 points Portland lost the Miami and Phoenix games by are really skewing their differential so I'm not sure anything can be gleaned from that

however, Portland has been in 5 close games (within 5 points under 5 minutes left, or 3 points with 3 minutes left), and the Blazers have won all 5 games. Even elite teams don't do nearly as well in close games. Those games generally break about 50-50. And half of Portland's game have been like that

so, it's almost certain that Portland's luck in close games will turn the other direction a few times.

i don't think Ant or Jerami will get there unless they have a really hot streak for another month or so, or if there are multiple injuries.

which is fine. the strength of this team appears to be its depth moreso than superlative top end talent. not many other teams in the league have a 9-10 man rotation as capable as ours.

Why AD? Also if LeBron doesn’t get voted in as a starter, he won’t be an All Star.

I'm admittedly not up on my Markkanen knowledge, but I know the Jazz are killing it. But would the fans really vote for a Utah jazz player? At least enough to make him a starter? A reserve I can see for sure.

Lebron's putting up 24/9/7. AD's putting up 23/10 on 54% FG, plus 1.5 steals and 2 blocks. They've each only missed 1 game.

What frontcourt player in the West that I didn't name should get in ahead of either of those guys, based on early performance?

Don't know if the fans would, but the players and media would (or at least should). Regardless, my post was just who I would say should be all-stars (so far). And either way, Jerami Grant isn't there...yet.

Ah c'mon man. Stop it.
Why the fuck would Nurk be pissed when three of his guys are all stars?
Do you "hear" yourself?
Wow.
I wonder how he felt when one of the players in a show he was on got an award?

By the way i hear that show is coming back at some point? Is @KSF-ERIC a part of it still?

Agreed on all counts.

Starters are still all fan votes right?

As a reserve no question Markkanen through 10 games deserves that.

No--starters are part fan vote, part player vote, part media vote.

Jerami Grant. Jusuf Nurkic. You just can’t have 2 All Stars on a 2-8 team. Coaches won’t pick ‘em if they don’t start.

Where is the Chriscrag guy to tell us he created this thread because he's "joking"? Jesus god almighty. LeBron is "not and all-star" .....SIGH

No one on our show got awards. We were shut out of the Emmys every year. The show will prob come back at some point cuz that’s what hit shows do nowadays. I would expect to be involved. But right now, David Boreanaz is busy doing Seal Team.

I understand the basic concept of good players on bad teams generally not getting all-star berths, but there's unfortunately a dearth of quality frontcourt play in the west this year, and all star selection rules require that there be at least 6 frontcourt selections from each conference. And as bad as the Lakers have been a a whole, their two main frontcourt players have been the best in the conference.

If you honestly think that the coaches would select Jerami Grant at his current production level for an all-star berth over Lebron and AD, even given the disparity in team record, I just don't know what to tell you. :dunno:

I "Liked" that because you said it might come back. Not because no one received awards. Thought there was a couple? Maybe just nominations? Anyway. Hope it all comes together for you.

Yeah they will be there. Lebron pretty much by default. You gotta figure AD if healthy will get the nod as well.

It is too small a sample size to put much stock in the small +0.9 point differential or in the winning of close games. It’s a good sign though that we have multiple ways to score on a final possession, not just Dame trying to create a shot one on five. That bodes well for the playoffs where the ability to score down the stretch against a set determined defense is at a premium.

I haven’t checked but it seems like we’ve had a tough schedule and we’ve been without Dame a lot so there’s two factors that should bump up our point differential quite a bit. You need +4 to expect around 50+ wins. Dame alone should add that much although I don’t like that our offensive style seems to revert towards old-Blazers when Dame is on the floor.
