Listening to the BS Report with Zach Lowe, talking about Blazers and Matthews. Saying that Matthews is the 2nd best player on the Blazers because he plays both offense and defense, also saying that he is our best defender.

Haven't listened to all of it, starts at the 17min mark.

Saying this is the most expensive injury in NBA history, Wes would have gotten $100 mill from Blazers.

Saying the Blazers went from championship contender to first round losers.

I like Zach; he's a Blazer believer semi-secretly. I don't know if the most expensive injury in history is true though... Oden's knees easily cost him a $250 million career.

I listened to it. Good podcast, but I still think the Blazers have a chance, but that may just be the homer perking through. Ya, I was shocked when Zach said that Wes would receive 85mil from a host of other teams and 100 mil from Portland. If that 85mil is correct, I think that's the real reason they got AAA.

Hopefully the Blazers could sign him to a 4 year 50mil contract now, and hope for a full recovery.

I'd be okay with anything Wes was given. He's earned every penny of it.

Though, I may put incentives in there that for every successful fast break he does, he gets a cookie.

If I was Wes (and probably Portland), I'd sign a 1 year, $8M deal. For Portland, he's coming off a career-threatening injury, and 80-90% chance he isn't the same player, so you can't throw him the big money like pre-injury. And for Wes, if he comes back healthy and can produce near or at what he did this year, then he can demand more money with the new cap salary.

Wesley wasn't going to get 20 million per year. 100 million...podcast please!

Why hasn't anyone commented on the fact that he apparently said Wes was the second best player on the team yet?

Opinions vary....Personally i give him a tie for second because of the defense. But really this is a Team Game and the Blazers play the game that way so saying one player is better than another is tough for me.

They also said Wes is a better player than Lillard because Wes plays offense and defense, while Lillard only plays offense.

Was a good podcast and they put the nail in coffin of us even making it out of the first round.
I do think wesleys injury cost us a shot at the Finals I do think we are a dangerous team and not one people will want to face like Bill said.

I took offense to that because Lillard isnt god awful like he used to be, he certainly isnt good, but he puts a lot of effort in on the defensive end.

Lets see.....We have Aldridge then Lillard, should he rank him third?

TIL that Zach Lowe is actually a nom de plume for Eric Millegan.

+> In my opinion, best player can also be the guy that delivers a steal, assist, block, rebound or shot when the Team needs it the most. Take for instance Batum and his work against Dallas in the 4th Q last week. So Batum could be the best player for the game, especially if the contest counts down to the last few minutes. That ranking idea is a favorite media trick because they want a pecking order.

To even extrapolate it more, society feels like it needs a pecking order for everything. But that's an entire different issue. lol.

That said, I believe Batums' game against the Clippers is also very telling. That 4th Q and OT were sensational.

Yeah, he's not like offensively bad on defense anymore. I mean we all love Wes, but we were just saying AAA was just as good as him, is AAA as good as Lillard now too?

I like that take, I hope more people write us off. I would never sleep on this group of guys.

These bozos said the same thing about the Pistons when they won a championship...no stand out MVP guy on the roster. I still think our chances are really good this season, even sans Wes

The frustrating thing is, Olshey actually made a move that showed some faith in the team (as opposed to dragging in another Blake/Kaman type) - and now pure bad luck has moved us from underdog to under the wheels of a passing bus. :hairout:
