<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>WASHINGTON ? Reactions were quick but few positions were likely to change Tuesday in the wake of a nationally televised speech in which President Bush called for up to 6,000 National Guard troops to be deployed to the southern U.S. border and for Congress to pass a guest worker plan.</div>LINK

If they get caught they will just come back and keep coming until they get through...build a huge f*cking 100 foot high fence.

Its pretty pointless when you have a 2 foot fence, my two year old sister could jump over..

well in the long run, if you want to stop illegal immigration, you need to improve peoples' quality of life in Mexico itself. That's of course primarily a concern of the Mexican government and easier said than done, but the US' policy concerning Mexico thus far has been, if anything, counterproductive. Look at the NAFTA for example, that sh*t is immensely biased and clearly favors the US. But the Mexican gov't has no other choice but support it because it needs the foreign investments. Still, there is a lot that could be done to improve the situation. And until then...build higher fences, woohoo.

it can, though it would take a crapload of money and work, and you'd need an effective safeguard against corruption. It's possible to clean Mexico up, but yeah, realistically you're right ,chances of that actually happening aren't too great.

The only thing harder than cleaning corruption out of the Mexiucan goverment is to clean their drinking water.

I must say, pretty soon there will be more American toursists than Mexicans in Mexico and more Mexican immigrants than Americans in the US.
