Here's one that makes too much sense to happen: Philly trade Paul George and the #3 for Durant.

I also think that San Antonio is going to do something. I mean, can you really have Fox, Castle AND Harper, when all of them thinks they're the point guard? I have a sneaking suspicion they may really like VJ Edgecombe, which would complicate my first suggested surprise.

I've already said that Bailey will drop and I see a few people deciding that he'll fall to Brooklyn at 8. Just so he doesn't fall to 11 and force us to take him.

I think OKC is going to end up with either or both of Green and Sorber.

I think Maluach is going to be an even bigger dropper than Bailey.

I live here in PHX. The local talkers laugh about any rumor of Paul George and the 3 being traded anywhere. They are certain he does not want to call it a career, but he has nothing left.

That's why you get #3. Durant is gonna leave one way or another.

Paul is the worst contract in the league. Adding #3 isn't enough for Durant. They'll need much more to put a team around Booker.

wait a minute...every other fanbase has been screaming the worst contract award goes to jerami grant!

Since many posters on this board are highly skeptical of any moves getting done (while I have ordinary skepticism), then the surprise is that Anfernee Simons will be traded to Orlando in a deal netting #16. Getting 25, instead, is less surprising.

A shocker will be if the package deal gets both 16 and 25 (combined to move up a few) while keeping 11.

Due to recent trends (7 years in a row of foreign born MVPs) the first USA born player won't come off the board until the 11th pick.

I think Ant will be traded, so my surprise is he won’t be traded and that the Blazers stay at 11, and only 11, and draft Newell

An expiring and a pick?

If we get Coward at 11 and Fleming is there at 16......I would do Simons for KCP and 16. I wouldn't think Orlando would want both Simons and KCP. Technically, KCP's contract is one more year than Ants, but I would assume he would opt out of it.

I'm going to refine my prediction:

EITHER
a) San Antonio trades for Durant using D'Aaron Fox but keeps Castle and the #2, in which case they take Harper, OR
b) They're trading the #2 (in which case the pick is also Harper) OR
c) They're keeping all three of Fox, Castle and the #2, in which case the pick is Edgecombe.

This is my draft surprise. That anyone who has been paying attention thinks that Harper will go later than second.

Portland will make a splash in the draft. Like not a stupid pick, but a move where everyone goes “whoa!!!”

I think we will package the pick.
No reason to even watch at this point

Are you insinuating that Portland has a trade on the table where #11 goes out for a win-now type move?

Is it tied to the KD trade at all (where Blazers would be a facilitator)?

I would assume Jabari Smith Jr.

I just watch for the cut a ways of Stephen A Smith eating Cheetos

Honestly... This would be VERY disappointing.

Smith is a nice player -> but that's all he'll ever be. Watching him at Auburn, I never saw top #5 pick material. His game in the NBA is right on par where I thought it would be. A rotational player, but not an IMPACT player.

Yeah, I would take him, but not for #11.

How about this scenario? Is this too good for Portland?

PHI
#3 => #7 + #11

NOP
#7 + #24 + Murphy => #3 + Simons

POR
#11 + Simons => #24 + Murphy

76ers get more assets. Pels get Bailey. Portland gets a great fit.

*** EDIT***
I think I actually like CHARLOTTE better.

CHA
#4 + #34 + Nurk + Smith => #7 + #11 + Simons

NOP
#7 + #24 + Murphy => #4 + Nurk + Smith

POR
#11 + Simons => #24 + #34 + Murphy

CHA get more picks and a good player to keep fans entertained. Pels likely get Bailey. Portland gets a great fit.

I think too good for Portland. I think Murphy is worth more than 11. 7 and 24, roughly, should be able to get you to 4. Murphy is valued very light there.
