Injuries: For the Blazers, Noah Vonleh (right shoulder), Shabazz Napier (left hamstring) and C.J. Wilcox (right knee) will not play. For the Suns, Anthony Bennett (back strain) and T.J. Warren (back contusion) are questionable. Jared Dudley (left toe surgery rehab), Brandon Knight (left ACL tear), Davon Reed (left meniscus repair) and Alan Williams (right meniscus repair) is out

Huge "MUST WIN" game for both teams heading down the stretch towards the preseason playoffs. "If the Blazers don't win this one, there is NO way they get to the magical #64Wins this season FAMS" says one Blazers insider. -Arizona Gazette

Excellent game thread. First rate. I'd see it again and again.

Thought since you all want me to start taking over for the DarkWingDuck, I better step my creative juices up a bit. Adding graphics and special insider media quotes is no easy task.

So why are we playing Phoenix twice in preseason AND then again on opening night? That seems a little ridiculous for half of our first 6 games to be against the same team. I kind of hope we get our asses kicked so we are pissed off on opening night.

What is this FAKE thread shit Denny? A lame attempt aimed directly at The HCP!

Wow, looks like the vaunted Phoenix medical/training staff has their hands full with that injured list. . .

Who let this guy make the game thread ? He didn't even put the game thread tag !

hopefully Collins gonna start... but it will be Davis of course

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lillard, CJ and Mo only play 15 min each. Portland's first regular season game is against this same team on their court, and as tight as the West is every single game counts. Portland doesn't want Phoenix to get used to what they plan to do ahead of time. Besides, it's plain as day that CJ and Dame are in mid-season form already.

I bet we see Turner, Collins and Swanigan as the featured guys in the offense, with lots of appearances of Layman and Pat.

@HCP - you know I love ya, but the new / merged thread is better. If it was not for that - I would not know that Josh Jackson is such a professional that he plays in a suit. That's why you are still an intern at the thread starting business!

I'd love to see the guys trying to make the team/earn roles get the majority of the minutes tonight. Without Nurkic there's no reason for the starters to play, they know each other well enough. Let the kids play. Start Collins. Start Swanigan. Let Morrow play, see if he's got anything else to his game. Let Leonard play fuck it.

Agreed. Still play Dame/CJ some though, so the youngsters can play big minutes with real players rather than just Briscoe and Connaughton. But give all the guys fighting for rotation minutes a legit chance to prove that they're worthy of them.

Agreed. At least the first half. I want to see how these young players might look if they get into a real game situation. Playing them with just other players who will barely get off the bench, if even make the team, puts them in a different role than what they will be actually used for. None of them will be a "go to guy" in a real game.

It is going to be hard though with Napier out. We don't have an abundance of ball handlers on this team when Dame and CJ sit. ET and.......Briscoe

Yep, but I also want to see Briscoe get some serious run. If I were running it, I'd basically have Dame/CJ play about 16-18 min each in the first half, with Briscoe playing alongside each for a stint. Then have Briscoe basically play most of the 2nd half, with Turner running point while Briscoe sits. Maybe run a Goodwin/Connaughton backcourt for a few minutes, just to see how bad it could be...
