PS3 Red light of death

Mother fucker!

So I was playing my ps3 when the ps3 just shut off. The light started blinking red lights. I tried to turn it off and then back on but it would just show a quick yellow light and then start blinking red. I've gone on to the internet and looked around and basically find out I'm fucked. Anyone have any awesome secrets to fixing this or am I really stuck with the choice of sending it to Sony for $150?

Happened to me after 3 years of use. It's not really fixable. Or at least permanently.

I would suggest buying a Slim. It's what I did. Why pay $150 to Sony when you can just add another $150 and buy a brand new Slim that will never break.

If you get it fixed is their any guarantee it won't break? Or like a free fix if it does break again? Money is not something I'm made of so don't know if I can put out the extra to get a slim

It doesn't happen to literally every ps3 like it does with the 360

It only happens to the original ps3's I believe, not like with xboxs. Friggin fifa comes out tomorrow and I can't play it now for awhile. Ironically, it died while I was playing the demo for fifa.

yeah my RROD happened while playing Reach, knowing I would probably fork over the $$$ to not let this happen again, I bought the new Xbox cause Reach was new, and I still have Fifa coming tomorrow in the mail. Then NBA 2k11, and probably COD as well. Sucks man, Fifa was awesome from the Demo.

Youtube a fix for it & trade it in to Gamestop. You'll probably need to do the heatgun trick. Upgrade to a slim.
