Yep. If he opts out, Cavs are screwedBecause he signed as a FA and it was not a S&T , the cavaliers do not have Bird Rights to him do they? Meaning they cant go over the cap to re-sign him....
How so? LeBron may opt out but he would just resign with them again (maybe for only 1 year again even). He doesn't care about the money anymore as much as who they put around him. He could sign a 1 year deal every summer for the next 5 years and that doesn't mean he is leaving CLE. The dude makes enough in endorsements to sign for a dollar if he wanted to.Yep. or Pat Riley. If anyone can convince lebron to leave Cleveland again it's olshey.

What did he just make? You saying he will sign for MLE? Of course he can resign with them, but it takes away flexibility to Cleveland to sign free agentsHow so? I don't think he would take MLE money personally but he could easily. How does it take away from them signing free agents. They are only looking at signing there own guys (Thompson who is restricted and Love who is unrestricted) and adding a new vet minimum guy. He made 20 MIL last year. If he opts in he gets 21 MIL. If he opts out then he will probably sign for 16-21 MIL on another 2 year deal with 1 year option. It is a wash as far as cap space goes. What did he just make? You saying he will sign for MLE? Except they can't go over the cap to sign him. He also said last year that he won't take less than max for the forseeable future.I don't think he would take MLE money personally but he could easily. They won't have to go over the cap to sign him even at 20 MIL cus Love likely bolts imo. I don't think they have a realistic shot of convincing him to come back. Not officially. Reports are he is 50/50. Hasn't decided. I don't think he will this year personally but if he does that doesn't mean he is leaving.Am I missing something? Did LBJ opt out? (God ESPN's new format is fucking terrible...now I remember why I stopped checking it.)

I don't think LeBron is opting out first of all. But if he does then the only signing they have to do is wait to sign Tristan Thompson to a new contract (his cap hold during the summer is low compared to what he is going to get from them) after LeBron re-ups with them. Remember Love's 15 MIL is coming off their cap. When you start hitting cap, then you cannot make any new moves. That means Cleveland would need to make all the moves necessary, even resigning their own players, and leave room for max for LBJ
Both as in Love and LeBron? That is true. But I don't think they even want Love back at what it would cost them. I do think they are begging LeBron not to opt out tho. That helps them the most.I guess the thing is they can't keep both if they both out out.
So would Kyrie and scrubs be all that appealing to stay?
For LeBron? He isn't leaving that city again period. He is retiring there. I think they think higher of Tristan Thompson than Love so they don't see him as a scrub at all. Love didn't even play most of the playoffs and they were 2 wins away from a title. Add one more vet guy that LeBron likes (mabye Mo Williams) and ya I think that can get it done in the East at least. So would Kyrie and scrubs be all that appealing to stay?

Him leaving once is exactly the reason he won't again actually. He left once, he could do it again.

I don't even think they want Love back personally (and I think the feeling is mutual as well). They would rather spend the money on Tristan Thompson imo. Opting out does not mean he doesn't want to stay though. IF he does opt out then you will see that he still stays.I'm not living the pipe dream that we can obtain him, but LBJ opting out would absolutely fuck the Cavs. So Love opts out... Cleveland can still resign him because they have his bird rights. If LBJ also opts out, then they can't sign both. It's that simple.
I personally think LBJ will retire a Cav because he's already won his rings and wants to repair what was broken. Opting out would mean I was wrong about him and he doesn't want to stay in Cleveland.
