Quick: LA and Deron have talked about playing together

Actually listening to it again, he said Dallas.

But LA isn't a FA until 2015, so no worries there.

I don't like those two conspiring together.

About the time Dirk retires. Kidd will be gone by then, too. And Cuban is one of the few owners still willing to pay luxury tax to field a competitive team.

Might as well make LaMarcus the GM if he makes it happen. And hopefully they don't embarrass Jay Jensen again in the recruitment with holding up signs at the airport.

This could actually be a bad thing.... because they might be talking in 2015.

Quick specifically said LA would be very involved with the recruitment process this summer for Portland.

Well I would hope so. He certainly was before this season. If we could nab Deron and pull in a decent coach, I think this team could be really good with the right draft picks.

well, unless blazer fans revolt halfway through next season and start calling him "Dewrong Williams" with pitchforks and torches in hand.

better trade Aldridge before he can help recruit some all stars!

as far as just our team situation goes (not considering market size) we should be WAY more attractive than dallas to deron. we will be more or less a clean slate starting with a decent poor man's big 2 of LMA & batum (plus matthews) + hopefully 2 lottery picks and possibly even a new veteren coach who would defer to him. he could step in and run everything if he wanted to : )

at this point dallas will be just aging dirk & marion + 27 million in cap space tied up in brendan haywood over the next 3 years (plus terry who will be a FA himself).

If we were to sign him as a FA, I think Batum would stay and we'd start to have a real team in this town.

batum is a RFA

the main trouble is someone might play a game of chicken with us and sign batum to an overvalued offer sheet the first week of july just to screw with our cap space, like we did with utah on millsap and matthews only on what would be an even larger scale.

dunno if we will have cap space for a vet max contract left over if we re-up batum at 8-10 million first.

I swear someone could make a fortune selling tinfoil to the posters on this board. Nothing can be said without a "OMG, I know you didn't mean it this way, but I'm going to interpret this as the worst news EVER!!!!!" reply.

It seems more likely they both end up in Dallas than they both end up in Portland. But I can dream.

Didn't LA recruit Crawford to here? How'd that work out for us?

+1. No shit - this board is the biggest group of pessimists I've ever encountered. Even Mags' consistent, effervescing optimism doesn't cause the pessimism meter to register any optimism coming from this message board.

Its funny when so many people complained about mixum enough to ban him, yet the pessimism is still in full force. Half the people who called for his head are the worst

Most of us were excited about the signing. Hindsight is 20/20, but it looked good at the time. And what else was really available, all things considered?

He's actually still a trade-able asset. Look at what we did last year with Andre on draft day. :devilwink:

Fatty Felton and his terrible season aside, Miller was an expiring contract with a player option - a team could decide to shed some cap room and send us something for JC, or we could make it a bigger deal. I don't expect anything to happen with JC other than he simply declines his option and walks away, but believe it or not, until he does this, he is still an asset to the Blazers.

Let's not go overboard, here. Mixum was pretty damn bad.

The only difference is that with him gone, everyone else pessimistic looks worse because he's not here to compare to. He was constantly posting "the sky is falling" posts, even after fantastic wins and the team was looking good. We were all so focused on him and his crazy-ass posts and blasting him. With him gone, we all focus on each other's posts and blasting each other.

Well, we better be good next year because we don't have a draft pick. I can't think of anything worse than waiting out a crappy season and not even having a nice draft pick as compensation.

Williams/Flynn
Williams/Crawful
Freeland/Joel
LA/Hickson
Batum/Matthews

Let LA be the GM, fire the scouting staff and send their salary to our public schools, let the fans vote on the draft pick. Based on the history of the last few years, I think we'd do much better than those pros.

Guess the pessimists need a place to express themselves. While the optimists are too busy being happy to complain about everything.

Except the Laker fans would come in and fuck it up just to be jerks!

Our draft pick next year is protected. Top 12 I believe

I'm all for expressing ourselves, but there's a point at which the negativity and pessimism gets unrealistic and overexpressed (which was the point that the poster made that I was agreeing with/responding to). It's hard not to laugh when it seems like in everything and every scenario surrounding the Blazers, there are some posters here who come up with the potential worst-possible outcome, and then put it out there if that's going to be the final outcome (which is what the poster was talking about). It gets a bit overboard and is ridiculous.

If you want to think completely pessimistic on everthing-Blazers all time, go for it. I won't stop you or other posters. Express yourself. But don't be surprised when other posters express themselves by making fun of the overly dramatic pants-shitting.
