Self-explanatory. List your favorites. Here's some of mine...

<ul>[*]"There is one light of the sun, though it is interrupted by walls, mountains and infinite other things. There is one Intelligent Soul, though it seems to be divided. All things are implicated with one another. The Spirit that bonds us all as One is holy. Everything on Earth, under the heavens, is connected with every other thing. All the different things in the world are coordinated and combined to make up the same universe." -Marcus Aurelius

[*]"A belief, however necessary it may be for the preservation of a species, has nothing to do with truth. The falseness of a judgment is not for us necessarily an objection to a judgment. The question is to what extent it is life-promoting, life-preserving, species preserving, perhaps even species cultivating. To recognize untruth as a condition of life--that cetainly means resisting accustomed value feelings in a dangerous way; and a philosophy that risks this would by that token alone place itself beyond good and evil." - Friedrich Nietzsche

[*]"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." - Buddha

[*]"Conventional wisdom would have one believe that it is insane to resist this, the mightiest of empires... but what history really shows is that today's empire is tomorrow's ashes, that nothing lasts forever, and that to not resist is to acquiesce in your own oppression. The greatest form of sanity that anyone can exercise is to resist that force that is trying to repress, oppress and fight the human spirit." - Mumia Abu-Jamal

[*]Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities — the political, the religious, the educational authorities — who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing — forming in our minds — their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself. - Timothy Leary

[*]"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

[*]"I speak without reservation from what I know and who I am. I do so with the understanding that all people should have the right to offer their voice to the chorus whether the result is harmony or dissonance, the world song is a colorless dirge without the differences that distinguish us, and it is that difference which should be celebrated not condemned." - Ani Difranco

[*]“Music creates order out of chaos: for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity upon the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous” - Yehudi Menuhin

[*]"Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither." - Benjamin Franklin[/list]

[*]When you're as great as I am, it's hard to be humble. - Muhammad Ali

[*]Luckily, I've always thought of myself as a musician more than a guitar player. Since I'm always changing as a person and my tastes are always changing, that is reflected in the ways I approach my instrument. I never feel like I'm running out of ideas, because it is clear to me -- music is infinite. - John Frusciante

[*]The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life. - Ali

[*]If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize - Ali

[*]Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Ali

[*]I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. - Michael Jordan

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Malcolm X:</div><div class="quote_post">Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.</div>

I'm thinking about getting that as a tattoo somewhere.

Aren't you white?

Or as Malcolm X would say, a "blue-eyed devil."

So what?

The quote isnt limited just to African Americans.

Real peaceful dude, that Malcom X guy is.

Honestly though, that'd be one of the most corny tattoo's you could possibly get.

Yeah, on second thought, it would be pretty lame.

The philosophy that Malcom X had towards the end of his life was one that everyone can learn from. Like most people, he grew and changed his ideas as he went through different experiences. It's a shame it got him killed.

But yea, it'd be a lame tattoo.

"It doesn't matter about the color of a woman's skin. They're all pink on the inside." - No idea who first said it

Frank Costello: [slaps cockroach] "You know what I like about restaurants?"
Billy Costigan: "The f*cking food. I don't know, what?"
Frank Costello: "You can learn a lot, watching things eat." [licks cockroach off palm] - The Departed (Jack Nicholson as Costello, Leonardo DiCaprio as Costigan)

So what? You'd be getting a tattoo on your white skin paying homage to a guy who would have hated you just because of your white skin.

I just gotta throw this Independence Day quote out there... best moment in a movie ever?!

President Thomas Whitmore
: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Never judge a book by it's cover

^ The best so far.

"If I can't practice, I can't practice. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game last it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that?

Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to the arena, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about practice right now."

- A.I.

Be not afraid of greatness, some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them - Twelfth Night

Vini, Vidi, Vici - Julius Caesar

If I lose mine honour, I lose myself - Antony and Cleopatra

Greatness is a rarefied air one must be taught to breathe.

Go to heaven for the climate, hell for the company - Mark Twain

Empires are not brought down from outside forces, they are destroyed by the weaknesses from within

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war - Marc Antony (Julius Caesar)

"I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different." - Kurt Vonnegut

"Talking nonsense is the sole privilege mankind possesses over the other organisms. It's by talking nonsense that one gets to the truth! I talk nonsense, therefore I'm human. Not one single truth has ever been arrived at without people first having talked a dozen reams of nonsense, even ten dozen reams of it, and that's an honorable thing in its own way; well, but we can't talk nonsense with out own brains! Talk nonsense to me, by all means, but do it with your own brain, and I shall love you for it. To talk nonsense in one's own way is almost better than to talk a truth that's someone else's; in the first instance you behave like a human being, while in the second you are merely being a parrot! The truth won't go away, but life can be knocked on the head and done in. I can think of some examples. Well, and what's our position now? We're all of us, every one of us without exception, when it comes to the fields of learning, development, thought, invention, ideals, ambition, liberalism, reason, experience, and every, every, every other field you can think of, in the very lowest preparatory form of the gymnasium! We've got accustomed to making do with other people's intelligence - we're soaked in it!

- Razumikhin in Crime & Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

"Don't become a monster in order to defeat a monster."

- Bono

"I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday. " -- Lester Burnham in American Beauty

That's one of my favorite scenes in film.

"I celebrate a victory when I start walking off of the field. By the time I reach the locker room, I'm done."
-Tom Osborne, University of Nebraska

"The worst thing that can be done to someone you love is to do something for them they can and should do for themselves."
-Abraham Lincoln

"In a world of give and take, there are not many willing to give what it takes."
-Clebe McCleary

"Webster indicates that success is the accumulation of material possessions.
I don't think so.
I think success is a peace of mind
which can only be attained through self-satisfaction..
knowing that you've made the effort
to do the best of which you're capable.
We have no control over an opponent,
but we should have control over ourselves.
All we can do is live up to our potential.
It takes hard work, enthusiasm.
You need to be conditioned and know what you're doing.
You need good skills.
You must have consideration for others
and lastly,
You need a competitive spirit.
You can't be afraid of a tough situation.
You must enjoy it.
And realize that the most difficult tasks bring the most satisfaction."
-John Wooden
