I saw them open for Chicago in 1972 and several times through the years....they were a party staple band in San Diego through the 70s....I enjoyed them but it could have been the recreational substances during the show....!I saw the J. Geils Band at the San Diego Sports Arena in 1974 just after they hit the big time. Still far and away the best concert I ever saw. Talk about bringing the house down.....And their live album Full House is still my go to when I want to pump myself up........"take out your false teeth Mama, I wanna suck on your gums......" Classic!
I loved how they gave Magic Dick (and his lickin' stick) a full quarter of the stage. Otherwise the rest of the band would have gotten injured every night when Dickie took off on one of his solos with full gyrations included. There's a reason he was called Magic Dick. And I alway thought his harmonica was electrified......either way, the guy is a legend.I saw them open for Chicago in 1972 and several times through the years....they were a party staple band in San Diego through the 70s....I enjoyed them but it could have been the recreational substances during the show....!
Somewhere in my CD collection I have a live double album recording of there's and it rocks...have to go dig it out and dust it off today.I loved how they gave Magic Dick (and his lickin' stick) a full quarter of the stage.
