I'm glad at least one person is prefacing the "lock him up" stance with the caveat that it needs to be true. I know it's important to some that the US keep it's long standing incarceration world championship, but we should probably let this play out a bit. The media and prosecutors don't always get it right.

I hope this isn't true, for the sake of Mrs Bachelor and their son.

When I said lock him up it's implied he should go through a trial and proven beyond a reasonable doubt before a sentence is finalized.

Do you think a statement of lock him up means illegally seize him without his rights, hide him in an unmarked cell and throw away the key?

He should have charges filed against him and if found guilt he should be locked up IMO based on reports.

A sports fan statement of a public entertainer doesn't always need to have a detailed legal explanation full of conditions and exceptions. That's for courts, attorneys, and judges. In the realm of public opinion we aren't held to those standards. Fine if you want to point those out. But also fine if others want a process to start to hold him accountable and simply voice such.

To answer your question: yes. Many people aren't "locked up" before trial and even if they are, a lot can be released on bail. Rondo, certainly would be released prior to trial.

I 100% agree you are allowed to want people locked up for whatever reason and with little to no standards. I made my post because in this country, we love to lock people up, and in my opinion it is the wrong default stance. I do think there are circumstances where locking people up is needed and I do believe victims of crime should be protected within reason.
