I hope this is for Seattle, too.

MOJO was showing the Huskies game, I think. Or Oregon State? Something other than the Blazers is all that I remember :)

Don't know what will happen in Seattle.

Found this.

This was in the Kitsap Sun legal notices on Wed 10/22: (I have retyped it from the newspaper ad graphic).

That's no surprise. They only showed HD for home games on MOJO last season. No clue if that will still be the case with this new channel or not.

You don't get the HD feed from KGW? The HD feed from KGW was far nicer than the one I got from ESPN (non-HD).

I'm sort of confuse with this whole Comcast transition to All-Digital. I have analog cable still, and I get digital channels as well as HD feeds (from ABC, CBS, CW, NBC, KOPB, FOX12) fine with my HDTV. I don't use a converter box, either. I'm wondering when they switch to digital in my area, that I'll have to make the switch and rent one of their cable box.

Did you see the link a few posts above? It discusses the situation.

Story says Comcast is transitioning now. What they are doing is swithcing to All-Digital cable boxes for cable box users.

You will need some sort of device, or possibly your existing TV or equiptment with a QAM tuner as long as Comcast doesn't encrypt.

is correct, the basic tier channels will not be (initially) encrypted which means any TV with a built-in "QAM" tuner or an external device with a "QAM" tuner could be used alleviating the need for a rental box of any kind. With that said, I don't believe Comcast has publically stated they promise to keep them unencrypted for any specific amount of time.

Slowly but surely providers all over the country are converting from analog to digital, but not necessarily because of the digital transition in a few months. The main motivation to providers is that by eliminating analog channels, it frees up a lot of bandwidth for other services including our personal favorite: HD channels. Comcast plans to have 20 percent of its footprint all-digital by the end of the year, and at this point it is focusing on the ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
><st1:City alt=
Portland area. The main part of the plan is to utilize Motorola digital terminal adapters (DCT) -- just like Verizon did when it went all digital on its FiOS service. The interesting thing to us is that the 40 or so channels available to those customers with a DCT, won't be encrypted, so you could just use the clear QAM tuner in your TV -- assuming it has one. These DCTs are pretty dumbed down boxes and are only one-way so that means no VOD etc. There seems to be some confusion as to whether the FCC allows providers to charge existing customers for these boxes, but even if there is a charge, it is usually only a couple of bucks.

Until Comcast gets every subscriber switched they won't be able to turn off the bandwith hogging analog feeds.

Thanks. What's your guess on the number of games that they broadcast in HD?

From what I understand it appears that the home games get the HD treatment, while the road games do not. Possibly CSNW does not have a mobile HD setup?

All the home games will be in HD, but just a couple on the road games will be.
