Giant statement game today to get back in the series. Wouldn't think we are done even if we lose but 1-1 obviously better than 0-2. Need to find the net early on our opportunities and hit the shit out of the pens and make them do something stupid. THE BIG MAC ERA OFFICIALLY BEGINS TODAY. If anyone touches Hank they need to be planted somewhere.

The Rangers played inconsistent hockey all season, most of us agreed in order to make a playoff run they almost needed to do a 180 on a lot of things they did during the regular season, they drop the first two games of the playoffs, THEN they'll go on a run to win 4 of 5 against a team that would have won 16 of 17 games overall? NOT HAPPENING.

Need to win this game today IMO.

MAF is out again...BUT Malkin is back. F*ck. Thought we might get a 2nd game without him. I knew he would be back this series...just not this early. I was thinking game 3 or 4. Rust back in also.

Sucks for us, but 3rd string goalie again...have to score goals today. Need O to win this game.

If they cant beat the pens with Zatkoff in net again then they should just pack their bags and get the fuck out of the playoffs.

I happen to agree with you on this one Step. Yet another reason today is do or die IMO. Pretty straightforward if you ask me. Hard to lose twice to a 3rd string goalie and expect a 4 of 5 run to happen.

Exactly Step!!!

I don't care about Malkin as much. Hack AHL journeyman goalie in net go out and score goals.

Also love the media talking about how Rangers are in a tough spot with Girardi "injured". Don't they know he's been terrible and is being benched?

I think the Rangers are going to get this game and put up goals

Would be real nice if our forwards show up. 3 of our past 4 playoff games ONE non 5 on 3 goal TOTAL. Good stuff.

Agreed Dis. No clue on Girardi. I don't know how McIlrath will perform on this stage, but I do know on the surface losing G is not a huge loss given how he has played most of the season, and game one. Not some huge loss for us. They have no clue.

I think Mac plays well and this team finishes. Watching on CBC and you wouldn't even know who Pens are playing.

Hank has shut down this team a lot in playoffs. Nobody in media ever mentions that. Bring it back to Garden 1-1

I don't know if Id say wanting a player in the lineup who is clearly better than 2 current members on the right side defense is an obsession but if you like girardi and boyle better thats on you.

I was joking guys.
Interesting stat NBC just showed. Hank is 54 and 56 in his playoff career...hmmm

Mac looks, pretty good out there so far after a nervous first shift...

This team just plays with no urgency. It is like when they are going to be down 3 in the series then they will start playing their best.

I feel like they just don't have that "next gear." Could be from so many games the past few season, could be too many old players, could be lack of a cohesive game plan to adjust to opponents pressure. Whatever it is, this team just doesn't seem to have "it" this season. Lots of puck watching, little movement without the puck, no hard shots so everything gets blocked, and instead of shooting wide intentionally and getting the rebound off the boards, they just continue to shoot into the legs and skates of everyone in front. Sigh. Hopefully they'll get a lucky bounce and figure it out sooner rather than later. Longer we go without scoring, the more it favors Pitt.

I like these refs. Tow blatant penalties on the pens in the last minute of the period, nothing called but anything the rangers do illegally at the end of the period then it is penalty automatically.

Ok. Good first period. Haven't had a lot of good shots offensively but forwards hustling back on D and rangers especially kreider doing a lot of good hitting. Think we'll get one soon.

Malkin crosschecks Brassard after the whistle, no penalty. Hayes cross checks the guy from behind, it is an instant penalty,

Not a bad 1st period guys. Need more good shots but I like the back checking and forecheck got going couple times.

This game has Kreider and Nash breakaways written all over it as Pitt D doesn't respect NYR forwards speed. Let's hope it's more Kreider. Lol
