Is Curry a PG or SG? He wasn't even mentioned on the PG thread. He would fall 6th on this list.

I take Matthews over Ellis too. Wouldn't you if the trade were available?

If I was starting my team from scratch, no....I would take Ellis, Mayo and Evans over Matthews. On our team Matthews is a good fit, but the other 3 are better players IMO.

Mayo is fools gold. He will never fit into any system that believes in "team". Even Kobe has a much better team concept and we all know how selfish he is.

He came off the bench for two years with Memphis for the betterment of the team.....

I would love to have Mayo as our starting SG and have Wes as his backup.

Its been to the betterment of the team since he has left for Dallas.

And Mayo is averaging 21 ppg and shooting 53% from 3 with a 20 PER for the Mavs. I'm sure they are ecstatic to have him as he is the main guy keeping them near .500 until Dirk comes back.

Cool. they have a good team for sure, it's still early in the season though. Doesn't take away the fact that Mayo is a good player. It's easy for everyone to write him off as a cancer, but let's wait until he gets Dirk back before we say he is fools gold. If he keeps up his pace this year he very well could be the 2nd or 3rd best player on a playoff team.

I don't hate Mayo. I just think his season thus far is an aberration. He'll come down to earth. He's Jamal Crawford. Good in spurts, but more of a headache than a help.

I have to disagree. If the only measure of a SG's ability how much they can score, then yeah maybe Ellis and Evans are better than Matthews. But if the measure is how good they play the game of basketball then Wes is without a doubt better than both Ellis and Evans. Those two guys lose games - all they know how to do is score inefficiently and lose.

There is a real dearth of SG talent in the NBA right now. Once you get past Wade, Kobe, Ginobili, Harden there isn't any talent to dream about trading for. Wes is easily a Top 10 SG right now. It'll be interesting to see if any rooks/sophs develop into great SGs, because the position is as dead as it's ever been. I don't follow college ball at all, so I don't have much to base this on - but I'd like to try to get Jeremy Lamb in the hopes that he develops into an upper tier SG.

ray allen? wtf!
I don't know if that's in response to me or just the general lack of mention. Personally, I can no longer count him among the great SGs - at this point in his career he's just a Designated 3-Point Shooter. He's great at what he does, but he's a one trick pony now. But he still might be Top 10! That's how shallow the position is.

On a related note, it's hard for me to include Ginobili in these sorts of rankings because of his health issues. Clearly he's still immensely talented, but I certainly wouldn't want to trade for him.
