How do you figure Casino as the "derivative" of Goodfellas? Goodfellas came out first. Like I said its all in my opinion. Goodfellas spoke to me more. Goodfellas, to me, is non-stop money from beginning to end. I LOVE all the dialog, the plot, the characters, cinematography. Like I said before, a lot of the great things about Goodfellas were copied and pasted into Casino which took away from the movie IMO. And, in my opinion, the plot was not as good and was not as interesting.
I think we're in agreement with Taxi Driver. I get what its saying and that it was great for its time but its hard for me to identify with it. I acknowledge its "character study" (both for the main character and Jodie Foster's character). As a wise Voodoo Child once told me, the technicality of it is all good and dandy but if i think its boring then its worth dick to me. Even the first time I saw Taxi Driver I understood why its one of Scorcese's classics, but as a relatively young person I don't identify with it and I think its flat out boring much of the time. Not saying its any less of a movie. I get why its regarded as highly as it is. It doesn't interest me much though, therefore it gets a low ranking on my list.
