Raptors, Blazers, Nets lead Nash pursuit

I will be very disappointed if we waste cap space on Steve Nash.... unless they bring in someone else as well. If they were to score a young talent like Eric Gordon or Hibbert, AND THEN sign Nash, that would be one thing.

PR stunts by an owner that knows shit about hoops! It's laughable now!

Would Sloan/Nash/Aldridge work? Stockton was a much better defender than Nash ever was.

I wouldn't have a problem with signing Nash as long as the Blazers keep both first round picks and use one of them on a PGOTF. Nash would make Batum and Aldridge so much better.

Lillard!

Yes PLEASE, for LMA's sake. Steve is one guard who is guaranteed to make LaMarcus infinitely better.

I don't know if Nash is a good way to use the cap space . .. but I know I would be looking forward to opening night all summer long.

It just depends on who is available. Most of the decent FAs are restricted. Nash wouldn't be bad for a couple years, but we have so many holes to fill. A guy his age doesn't really solve anything.

I have a feeling the Suns, Raptors or Nets will all offer more since they need a face to sell tickets.

I agree with all this.

What kind of contract will Nash command? 10 mil/yr for 3 years??????

Probably something like that.... maybe more honestly. This is probably his last contract before he retires, so he might want more.

I hope to God Olshey is the voice of reason in not signing a senior citizen

This. I haven't really seen a better and more realistic option.

I get the point. OTOH, we only have to pay him for 2-3 years, not forever. Then we hire someone else. In the meantime, we get a couple good years of Steve Nash. If we don't sign him, does the next guy in line solve anything? Who? Obviously I'd rather have D-Will, but in the meantime Nash has to be high on the list.

Well, you can hope in one hand.... :)

I like the Olshey hire, even if I don't necessarily agree with the direction he and Paul Allen choose to go. At least it's a direction, and Olshey has shown he's capable of executing a plan.

You think getting a 40 year old PG and a 70 year old coach both 10 years past their primes who have big name NBA recognition isn't a PR stunt? What the fuck do you call it? PA and crew are using these has beens to put the chalupa fans at the Rose Garden in seats. Hey maybe Chuck and Kenny would like to make a comeback too!

HAHAHAHA! You guys are funny! Hey maybe Stockton and Malone can come off the bench!

I get that you don't like the idea of getting Nash, but your over the top schtick weakens your argument. Nash is 38, not 40. He's posted AST% of 53,15 and 53.11 the last two seasons - the two highest of his career and the 7th and 8th highest in NBA history. He also just led the league in assists, was second in AST/game, posted the highest FG% of any non-center/power forward in the league, was 5th in the league in TS%, 3rd in the league in eFG% and 14th in offensive win shares.

Yeah, he's old, a poor defender (always has been) and his total production is down a bit from his two MVP seasons. But, he's still a 20+ PER player, a great outside shooter and one of the best passers in the league. He's still a top 5 PG, a HUGE improvement on what we had last season, and probably the best PG we have a realistic chance at getting. Nash would immediately improve our outside shooting and make his teammates better. He'd also be a great mentor for a young PG like Kendal Marshall or Damian Lillard. Let Nash be the starter for two years and then move to the back-up the final year of his contract when the young guy is ready to start.

You're a smart guy. Please suggest a better option for using our cap space to improve the team.

I like this. A lot.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Boob-No-More again.

Yeah, BNM, Blazer Bert and e_blazer, voices of reason.

I've always loved Steve Nash and he strikes me as a Portland kind of guy. I can easily see him perusing Saturday Market, eating organic, being featured on Portlandia. Team still needs a PGOTF but if they really think Nolan has that potential and needs training, who better?

I really like the idea if the price is right. If we get Nash, then we are surely going to be able to keep Hickson and Batum.

Nash, Matthews, Batum, Hickson and Aldridge is a very nice combo. Scoring and shooting at every position. Matthews and Batum are the defensive anchors. And we get to keep both picks too. Why not?

did U see Hoopshype this morning that says Nash and Suns have agreed if he's traded it will likely be a sign and trade so he's not limited to capspace teams and Suns get something back, also talked about hsi back and the Suns training staff, nash minus the suns staff might be a bigger risk and with the sign and trade stuff I would prefer to just forget him
