I really like hip-hop, however, when it comes to a good hip-hop record, the ratio of bad ones to good ones is about 1000:1.

Here are some of the few I own. I would really appreciate some recommendations based on these:

B.I.G.: Ready to Die
Blackstar
Cannibal Ox: Cold Vein
DMX: It's Dark and Hell is Hot, Flesh of my Flesh
Jay-Z: Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint.
GZA: Liquid Swords
Lauryn Hill: Miseducation...
Mos Def: Black On Both Sides
Mr. Lif: All of his records
Nas: Illmatic
Roots: Things Fall Apart
Tribe Called Quest: People's Instinctive Travels...; Low End Theory
Wu: 36 Chambers

Those are off the top of my head. You can list other ones from the same artist, but I know (and have many or) most of them.

There is no limit to the amount I'd like to have listed, but I would really appreciate if you could write a couple sentences about each one you list. Or maybe list why you think I would like it (similar artists, etc).

Thanks!

The Firm - The Firm (1998?)
- has some great Nas stuff, good beats, raps by Canibus and AZ and Nature. plus the best female rapper ever (foxy brown).

Talib Kweli - Reflection Eternal (2000?)
The best "conscious" rap record ever made

Common - Like Water 4 Chocolate (2000?)
The second best "conscious" rap record ever made

Mobb Deep - The Infamous... (94)
described as the clockwork orange of rap and heavy metal for black people; dark and addictive

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury (06)
This decades version of The Infamous...; also dark and addictive

Lupe Fiasco: Food & Liquor
-Lupe is a good lyricist, and can tell a good story. He doesn't talking about hos, ice, and shooting people either. He is also good with metaphors as well.

Nas
-Check out the rest of his albums, his newest album Hip Hop Is Dead is very good.

Ghostface Killah
-His style sets him apart from a lot of people.

Outkast
-Their style sets them apart as well. One of the best hip hop duos ever.

By looking at your albums there is a lot more of good material from the artists you listed.

These are good calls. I've been meaning to check them out anyway.

Lupe -- I've heard a few songs. He's pretty good, but not really a unique sound that makes me want to come back. I'll give the album a shot anyway. "I like you like a metaphor" is one of the worst lines ever, especially since he meant simile
wink.gif

Nas -- I don't really like the rest of his albums. Stillmatic and It Was Written are worth listening to though.

Ghostface -- Good call

Outkast -- I love Outkast and pretty much all of their albums. I forgot them in the first post, stupid me.

I know there's a lot more good material from the artists I listed. I sort of picked my favorites, you know? I have or have heard most of the other ones from the people I listed.

^^Illmatic is one of the best if not the best album of all time

<div class="quote_poster">GotSkillz92 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^^Illmatic is one of the best if not the best album of all time</div>

Reasonable Doubt is better.

Anyway, Illmatic is listed in my first post.

2Pac - Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me
Raekwon - Only Built for Cuban Links
Method Man - Tical

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I like you like a metaphor"</div>
Yeah but after he said that, he says, "you hard to get". Meaning like a metaphor in a song, the girl he is talking about is hard to get.

Also I didn't see any of Pac's albums in there. I'd check out his albums, at least before he died.

You might like:

Jurassic 5 - Quality Control.
Some people think it's dope - I think it's....OKAY.

One more must-own:
Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth

Life After Death - Biggie: His sophomore album is a double disc. No fillers, really--just straight fire.

Paid In Full - Eric B. & Rakim: Looks like you like old school hip-hop, so this should fit you. It's a very influential album

It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back - Public Enemy: socially conscious rappers with a meaningful message. Plus, who doesn't love Flavor Flav?

The Blueprint
- Jay-Z: One of Jigga's best album's, though it's more similar to the rap out now. Still worth a listen nonetheless.

Be - Common: Another more recent album, but it's still quality.

Beautiful Struggle - Talib Kweli: Since you have "Blackstar" and "Black on Both Sides" up there, you should listen to Talib Kweli's solo album

The 18th Letter - Rakim: Arguably the best rapper of all-time, definitely worth a listen

The Chronic - Dr. Dre: Classic stuff from Dre, influential to the West Coast's prominence in the early 90's.

DoggyStyle - Snoop Dogg: More west coast stuff classics.

Everyone of Pac's albums are good, so you can check him out. I like All Eyez on Me best though.

EDIT: Also the Anthology by A Tribe Called Quest. I was just listening to that yesterday.

Keep 'em coming guys.

I will only have the ability to "acquire" these albums in the next 24 hours or so, so I need as many as I can now.

There are some great recommendations so far.

Unlimited acquisitions until January 1st on a certain closed community. Thus, I can try lots of new stuff during this period.

@ the ski mask thing

You know?

Big L did one like that I think

In Pac's case, his mom likes money, and so do other rappers.

Probally, although I dont really have much to say on them, apart from they are dope albums that you need to check out
laugh.gif

Feel free to ask me about any of them that may strike your fancy.

Why would you post pictures but no descriptions NTC? You obviously lack a decent education.
