yeah.. they send you a refurbished xbox of the same model.. instead of a newer re-designed one that doesnt suffer from the same problems.

I would get yours replaced and trade it in a credit on the new model if I were you. Crappy that you will have to cover the difference, but it would be worth the piece of mind IMO.

thats what I'm thinking of doing. Getting a new one while waiting. And then doing the trade in later. Or maybe selling on Ebay.

I have both, but still play my 360 about ten-fold.

I've only gotten a RROD once, and that was after owning it for a year. I've been good for over 2 years now with my current 360.

Just see if you can get refunds for those games or sell all of your stuff on ebay. I'm just the opposite of Moo2k4, i only use my 360 for exclusives pretty much for fear of what just happened to you happening to me for like a fourth time.

The newer versions of the "fat" ones are significantly better as well. The Jasper chipset (which is in the most recent fatties) greatly reduced the number of Red Rings.

Personally, I never turn the unit off immediately after playing. The fans shut off when the system does thus trapping all of the hot air in the unit which leads to a greater likelihood of overheating. Overheating of course leads to RROD.

The fans won't shut off until the unit does. I usually just leave it on the dashboard for 20-30 mins to be sure all of the air inside has been moved out. If I'm leaving or going to bed or something I just leave it on and I have the auto-shutoff selected so it will turn itself off after 6 hours.
