Haven't listened and probably won't, but one thing on Jamal. He was absolutely killed by people on here and Blazers fans in general. Deserved or not, I can tell you that he is one of the coolest guys in the league I've ever dealt with. Straight up polite, well spoken and just a cool dude. I could see him calling games after he retires. Great speaker.

You think he'll be on a different team next year with Austin Rivers showing promise as a 6th man?

Should everyone come back for another year I could see Crawford going to San Antonio to play.

Yeah he was a victim of the Feltdown his one year in POR. He would have been a great 6th man here, like he's been everywhere else, but when Roy suddenly announced his retirement, Nate's initial reaction was to try to make Jamal Crawford be Brandon Roy. When that didn't work, he tried to make him the backup PG (once it became obvious that both Jonny Flynn and Nolan Smith SUCKED).

That was a team full of underachievers. So, it's kind of a guilt by association thing. But Jamal is a Seattle guy and he'd never throw Nate under the bus the way Felton did. So, he took his lumps and quietly went on to a better situation. No hate from me on Jamal. There were plenty off other guys on that team that deserve it more than he does.

I was listening to Jamal give an interview before game 3 and he mentioned that during his time here a local writer wrote a pretty negative piece about him, and Jamal went to him to clear the air and explain himself, and the guy ended up publishing the piece anyways. That kind of soured his entire time here.

Anybody know what piece that was and who wrote it?

Not sure, but Dwight Jaynes fired a very negative tweet on the last night of the season about him winning the FT% title that year. Saying because he didn't play in the last game, is why he won the title. I replied that the reason he won it, was because he was the best god damned FT shooter in the league that year! Jamal came up to me and personally thanked me for standing up for him. He didn't like the local hack writers, deservedly so. Sensitive dude who is very aware of whats going on around him.

Probably one of the usual suspects. Canzano, Jaynes, etc.

I imagine Quick wasn't the guy. He likes being buddy buddy with the players. Canzano LOVES holding that power over them. I would put money on JC.

Well Jaynes is a moron.

I dunno, I quite liked Jamal when he was here. I wanted him traded at the deadline because he was obviously not going to be back, but he's really well spoken, and just seems like a cool dude. He definitely hated that year here though.

I remember he got the nickname Crawful while here. Blazer fans were a bit pissed about the Brandon Roy situation, getting Felton who sucked, and going back to the basement.

Crawford had the worst year of his career here. 31% from 3 42% from 2. That's pretty bad shooting. I know they were trying to play him at PG and he wasn't really comfortable with that.

My nephew was murdered while Crawford played here in Portland. I reached out to Jamal on Twitter just to see if he would give a shout out to my other nephew (his brother). Jamal actually responded and followed me on Twitter. We talked in direct messages back and forth for a few days, and he was so engaged, so sympathetic. He is a class act for sure.

I always liked Jamal...I didn't like what Nate tried to do with him in the rotation but I never got the hate. I wanted to keep him after the Canales era as a true 6 man...we paired him with...jiggle jiggle Raymond Felton that season and expected just what exactly? I'm with HCP on this guy.

Damn, sorry to hear that, man.

But that is really cool what Jamal did! He realizes the little things that can have a big impact!

I blame McMillan for the misplaced hatred of less insightful Blazer fans toward Crawford.

I can't remember the details, but it seems to me one of the writers that year implied that either Crawford or Felton was two-faced in the locker room. (and "stabbed Nate in the back") I thought it was Quick about Crawford, but I could be totally wrong. Anyone remember? I wonder if that was the article he was referring too.

Well I was curious so I googled and found this:

http://www.sportingnews.com/nba-new...-trail-blazers-raymond-felton-michael-beasley

Earlier this week, ESPN.com’s Chad Ford mentioned in an online chat that Felton and Crawford “have quietly orchestrated a mutiny ever since Nate McMillan chewed them out in a video session a while back.”
John Canzano of The Oregonian asked Crawford about it, and Crawford said he doesn’t have “enough power to try and get a guy fired.” Several Blazers, including veteran center Marcus Camby, have complained about their roles with the team.
Trading Crawford is not necessarily going to fix the Blazers, though, and if the team can’t stop its slide quickly, McMillan—who is in the final year of his contract—will be very much on the hot seat and could be out by the time Portland’s current seven-game road trip is done.

And the quote:

Taylor (Rip City)

I have class in twenty minutes so we'll have to make this quick. Is jamal crawford going anywhere and are the blazers part of any new rumors?

Don't want you to miss class Taylor. Let's just put this way. Either the Blazers find a new home for Raymond Felton and Jamal Crawford (who have quietly orchestrated a mutiny ever since Nate McMillan chewed them out in a video session a while back) or they'll probably have to let Nate go. If I'm a Blazer fan ... I'd rather lose Felton and Crawford. They won't get a lot for either guy, but there is such a thing as addition by subtraction.
Not sure about accuracy.

NO! Not the Portland sports dicks? That's so unlike them.

When Oregonian hypocrites create a mountain out of a molehill, writing that a player (e.g. Camby) has stabbed Blazer management in the back, think of all the paper's back-stabbing in the past about GMs, and still in the present about the owner (e.g. Canzano wrote this season that Allen sucks).

This is so funny. I'm reading all this stuff about Crawford and it's really interesting. Makes me realize how much I hated that season and blocked most of it out of my mind.

http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/3/2...rd-denies-mutiny-report-discusses-trade-talks

I did think I was going to be traded the whole time leading up to the trade deadline, and then I come to find out that Gerald gets traded. So I’m like, OK, there are three hours left in the deadline, they’re going to make some more moves. Then Marcus gets traded. Then I get a call from Chad Buchanan (Blazers Interim GM), saying we didn’t want to trade you, that the opt-out was the thing that had us nervous, because they didn’t know if I did leave, would they get something in return, but we talked about it and worked it out. And then 30 minutes later, I hear Nate McMillan’s fired. And then I’m like wow, this is crazy. Greg Oden’s released, Chris Johnson’s waived, and all of this was in the same day. It was unbelievable. ... But I would’ve bet you my last dollar that I was gonna be traded, because that’s what all the reports were saying, so I had no idea. But the craziest thing of all is saying me and Raymond Felton were leading a mutiny against Coach McMillan. First off, I have a different type of respect for Nate McMillan, and I told him that when we talked in his office before the season first started. I was like it’s weird being here with you because I watched you growing up in Seattle. When I was a 16-year-old kid I used to go work out with the Sonics. I’ve known Nate since I was 16, and we have a mutual friend who just passed away last year, who told me I would be playing in Portland next season. So besides my respect for Nate, I don’t play that game let’s get the Coach fired; I’ve never been that guy. I pride myself on being a true pro. I’ll start, I’ll come off the bench, I’ll play the one, I’ll play the two, I’ll do whatever’s asked and I’ll do my very best. When we’re losing, I don’t throw anybody under the bus. We win as a team, we lose as a team, that’s just a fact.

Also found this haha:

Until the old guard of shitty sports journalists in Portland retire or die, we won't bring in the best free agents.

Years ago, posters used to say that the Oregonian was right in its criticisms because many national writers reported the same events. I would educate the posters that local writers are the sole source for national writers, who know nothing more than the prejudices they hear from their local comrades. You just gave an excellent example of that.

J-Crossover and Wade are the most inspiring shooting guards since Jordan retired imo.
I know Jamal is a Clipper and a bit of a streetballer, but i just LOVE to see him play.

Anyone else go to that meet and greet and giggling?
