Exclusive Refsnyder

I saw the same thing in this mornings paper Steve, it also mentioned the possibility of a lefty/righty platoon with Drew. Either way I'm happy he'll be staying up.

He's not going to get sent down. I'm tired of hearing about the return of Ryan like it's something everyone has been waiting for. Cut his useless ass already. He doesn't hit and is never healthy anyway.

...hope this report is true...surprised in a way though because, well, Cashman...nuff said.

...if they're really gonna platoon him with Drew I don't see that improving things really...I'd rather they just let the kid play every day instead of only vs LHed pitching...now, a platoon with another competent hitting 2Bman instead of Drew would maybe make a difference. Personally, I don't wanna see Steven fucking Drew on the roster after the deadline...don't mean to be a broken record but this is why I've lobbied for Zobrist.

I hear you Ron but as was mentioned (I think by Vic) who would backup Refsnyder? Zobrist is an everyday player. I'd keep Drew but ONLY as a late game defensive replacement until such time that Refsnyder can improve. Then ship his non major league weak ass off to parts unknown. JMO.

...Zobrist would back up Refsnyder, as well as backing up DiDi and/or platooning with DiDi because can't hit LHed pitching for shit...and Ben would add depth to the OF too. Zobrist basically be replacing Drew in the line up and on the roster

...Drew sucks and I don't wanna see him again...eat 1/2 his salary and package him with a prospect and ship his sorry ass outta here...Zobrist also gives Girardi more roster flexibility.

I forgot that he played several positions. Okay go get Zobrist Ron, Just tell Cashman I said it was alright.

...^^^ lol...I'm not very confident that it will actually happen...just spit balling, out of boredom. I would not be surprised if Drew remains for the rest of the year.

Refsnyder is staying imo, ....He isn't going any where.
Yanks will go with him until/if he shows poor defensive play or if he can't hold his own as a new rookie with the stick (which I doubt) .

It's his time...we wanted him...the Yanks gave him a couple few months to satisfactory demonstrate he wasn't a defensive liability at AAA and they have every reason to believe he'll eventually be an overral offensive improvement over Drew.

His time has arrived. Now it's up to him.
Some were clamoring for him from opening day despite his defensive struggles learning a new position.
And now we're getting cold feet over his defense?
It's time to face the music and see how the kid handles himself and what he can or cannot do. Kinda exciting!

As for Zobrist, yes he's a good useful rental who also happens to be owed 1.25 more million than Drew at this point and there could still be some other deal in the works at the deadline for some other "better" rental and that 1.25 mil could come in handy.

Looks like part of THE PLAN is taking shape.

At what price?

...he'd only be a 3 month rental and it would be a slight salary dump for the A's, otherwise they'd have to pay him $7.5 Mil...so I don't see why a utility man would cost that much in return.

...maybe somehow jettison Drew and/or Jones along with a prospect...I dunno.

I wouldn't give the A's no more than a B- prospect if that.
They need us more than we need them.
Yanks can easily use Young and Flores in RF or LF and I'd rather keep the "extra" money they save with Drew for some other possible trade acquisition.

Zobrist and his balky 34 yr old knee will have to be put on hold until Billy Beane accepts what WE want to offer.....and it shouldn't be anything but a B- (at best) prospect!

Let him try and rob someone else.

1-

2-

1- Box him up and send Him (Drew) out here, I know of several deep bottomless mine pits, no one will ever find him, not in 10 Milleniums, or were you talking about Ref- Rick???

2- "____" ditto : : : :

If not a bottomless mine pit, then how about a 10,000 feet high-skydive; with no chute in his bag....? either one can be arranged, just get him back here, tell him he's to be inaugurated into the Local A+ Team he came from here; -the Jethawks)....

Drew is only an honorable mention, but not in the A+ HOF, and may never be...

Have to agree on Zobrist as a rental, I'd soon see both Drew & Ryan gone, I guess that either one could be DFA, don't know who would want either in trade. Sure wish th Yankees had a GM who knew what the fuck he was doing.

Zobrist is the new Prado?

and Drew is the next or modern day, Mark Belanger: both SS's, with Lifetime B'Avg's, below the I-10..........

Belanger's Lifetime B'avg @ 2.28 (Hit below .200 in 4 years of his career).......

Drew's lifetime: 2.52; (and dropping faster than lightning bolt; and/or a ton of Elephant Shit).........

Biggest diff, Belanger won 8 gold gloves, and Drew hasn't even won a pair of batting gloves.....

Yet, neither could hit worth a shit.......

anyone recall last years Spring, Posts; when Braniac insisted Belanger was "stellar"???? in all aspects of play, and get this if you recall, if not: "One reason Brooks was so good, was because he had Belanger defensively beside him". Since then I quit using the word "stellar".......in 72 Belanger hit .186 with 6 HR's and 14 RBI's........

i don't want any rentals that cost minor leaguers....cash only deals.

I agree with you both

Anything to improve Trashman's current plan.
I'm almost embarrassed to call myself a Yankee fan.

cash only on the barrelhead, with 90 day guarantees, in case those don't work out, or hit like Drew.....???

...cash deal won't get it done...in fact, I can't remember the last time a player of any significance was sold outright to another team for cash only.

Good point, I noticed your 1st comment above, and your right, Cash doesn't flow like water......with cash strapped contracts on the verge of being out of control, if not out of control......

I admire the Astro's Farm System, and the way they have built from the ground up, of course coming in last place for years isn't a good trade off, to get those #1 Draft Picks......

Did King George's Kids learn anything from their Dad??? Makes me wonder.......

IMO, George's beliefs changed over time and years, to a point He realized he couldn't have an entire team of costly Free Agents.....and began to build up his farm clubs, until he had a strong team of Homegrown talent(s), and would interject with a couple of Free Agents, (more a FA SP or two, and a Positional Fielder here or there)......"Now that's the ticket"....

  • Yankees GM Brian Cashman tells the Post’s George A. King III that he’s comfortable being aggressive or passing on asking prices he deems exorbitant this July. Interestingly, King writes that the industry belief, at present, is that the Blue Jays would be more willing to part with top prospects to land Cueto than the Yankees would. While there are no true untouchables in the Yankees’ farm system, King adds, Aaron Judge and Luis Severino “come close” to earning that label.

  • Looking ahead by looking back, the Yankees are more likely to attack the deadline with their purse than their prospects, writes Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Taking on big contracts in exchange for lesser-regarded prospects has become a Brian Cashman MO, says Sherman. And the team has also tended to eschew the acquisition of major stars in favor of adding useful pieces to deepen its roster. Sherman says he expects a quiet deadline this time around.
