Religious right may leave GOP

There is already the Green, Constitution, Natural Law, Libertarian, & Reform parties.</p>

The good thing I can see about this possible move is the Fiscal Conservative/Free Market types who know how to deal in International relations & Millitary Matters might take charge once again in the GOP.</p>

If so, I might even starting voting Republican again........nah.</p>

Once you vote Libertarian you never go back to the 2 major parties who are puppets of Big Business or whiny special interest groups.</p>

I'm a republican (registered, anyway) who thinks the religious right is the worst thing for America. This is great news. Sure the republican party would lose voting power (numbers), but it adds a personal legitimacy.</p>

Silly me. I was one of those who believed Wolfowitz (In Defense Dept at the time now disgraced World Bank big wig) that "liberating" Iraq would increaseoil supply greatly and we'd have cheap gas.</p>

Iraq's not a done deal yet. Things seem to be going in our favor, finally. I expected something along the lines of a 10 year process of converting Iraq from a command economy to a demand one. The insurgency has obviously been a bloody mess, but it seems to be waning at this point.</p>

I never heard that liberating Iraq would increase oil supply. The issue, as Greenspan has been pointing out on his book tour, always has been the free flow of oil. If we hadn't intervened in Iraq in Gulf War I and the full-blown invasion, Saddam would have controlled Iraq's oil, Kuwait's oil, and lest we forget, he was very close to invading Saudi Arabia but Bush I sent a couple hundred thousand troops into Saudi Arabia to put that to rest. Saddam also attacked Iran in the bloodiest war in the Middle East in centuries, and had he won that war might have also controlled Iran's oil. On top of physical control of the oil fields, Iraq could have militarily controlled the Straight of Horumuz so no other nations' oil could be distributed by sea.</p>
