Remotely plausible Roy trades?

A deal that might make sense and is something I have read from other Blazer fans. It is a deal that would send him to Orlando for VC's exprining. Why do I think this might make sense? Orlando is looking for star power. Something they can match up with Miami. The Chris Paul deal didn't happen for them but I don't think they have given up making something happen. Roy if he went to Orlando wouldn't have to be the main guy. He can play Robin to Dwight Howard. It is a risk for them. They already have one very poor contract on the books in Rashard Lewis's. This may make them leery to make a move. But it's something worth taking up with Otis Smith.

I would wait until we see what happens with the new CBA.

This. There has been talk of another amnesty cut being allowed by the NBA like there was when the last CBA went through. By then the Blazers should have a better grasp on the health and future of his knee.

I suggested a similar trade in another thread. Arenas' contract is one less year but it's a lot bigger than Roy's and they could get rid of Pryzbilla after one year. Roy is not really a good fit there either though, as Wall is not a strong 3pt shooter. We would need to include other pieces to entice them: maybe whatever three they want of Johnson, Mills, draft picks, Babbit, Williams. I guess Washington would still probably not make the trade unless they feel like keeping Arenas is hurting attendance.

By the way, i am still not convinced that Roy's physical condition is really that bad. I am beginning to believe he is not that mentally tough and that he is having trouble pushing through a shooting slump. (This is entirely my own opinion based on my instincts about human behavior, I have absolutely no hard facts to support this opinion). I think the team does need to find a really good three point shooter somehow and pair him with Roy at least part of the games; perhaps he will improve enough to make us a good team again or at least improve enough to make him tradeable.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

1/2 Mental 1/2 Physical, IMHO

I have a theory Roy is trying to go to LA. This trade sucks, I would burn the Rose Garden down if this shit went down.

lulz.....no thanks

PG--Fisher is doing his thing, Blake is playing great, stretching the floor
SG-- Kobe, Shannon has been playing light out this year
SF--Dont need Rons O(thank god), Great D this year, Barnes is also playing really well
PF--Pau, Odom is having his best year as a Laker so far
C--Bynums back, Pau will play here too

Ratliff, Joe Smith,Character to get the trash minutes in the C/PF positions

Lakers have no desire for a player who all of you said needs to have the ball in his hands to be effective...thats ass backwards for the triangle O and the fact we already have stellar scoring threats

Believe it or not, "seven or eight teams" have called asking about Roy, according to Rich Bucher.

(Scary: he also says that we offered Batum and Joel for Iguodala, and they turned us down! I like Iggy and Batum is driving me crazy, but I guess I thought the Blazers liked Nicolas more than that.

Waitaminute - I've got it! Call off the Gilbert Arenas-to-Orlando trade because this is PERFECT:

Orlando gets Hedo and Roy for Rashard Lewis
Phoenix gets Lewis (think what he'd be like with Nash!)
We get Josh Childress (who's been disappointing for Phoenix).

Okay, now Gilbert, Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu have already been traded, that severely cramps possibilities. How about this one:

Brandon and Joel for Lou Williams, Nocioni, Songaila and Tony Battie.

If Philly are stuck with Brand for a while, they might as well swing for the fences. (They've been playing well lately, and part of that is Jodie Meeks taking Williams' minutes.)

Just to continue the conversation with myself...

Apparently Phoenix are shopping Josh Childress. Hmmmm...

Detroit: swap bad signing Villenueva and old and grumpy Rip for Brandon (star power! The Pistons certainly need it! And unlike Rip, he could actually play alongside both Stuckey and Ben Gordon) and Joel
Suns: Unload Childress and a scrub for Villenueva who is MUCH better suited to their style, as is Babbitt
Portland: successfully unload Roy's contract! Oh, and get Childress (remember when we wanted him so much?) and Rip, who won't complain about playing alongside Miller.

Another trade would probably be needed as we're very small as a result. If Noah hadn't've gone down, I might have suggested Rudy for Asik again...

I would do that trade in a second. I really like Childress. I just doubt that Detroit is willing to bet on a player who has no meniscus in his knees and has a long, max deal. But they did sign Villanueva, so I guess you never know.

You don't. Another complication is that the sale to the Ilitchs (sp.?) who own the Red Wings and Tigers appears to have fallen through, so I dunno if they'd run away from trading for Roy or do it in the hope that a "name" would help the sale. Okay, I do know, and it's not the second one.
