After playing on the undercard in his last two PGA tournaments, and pulling out of last week's Nationwide Tour event with an injury, Plainville's Jim Renner is back battling with the big boys.
Renner, who is nursing a minor hand injury, squeezed his way into the Shell Houston Open field as an alternate. The $5.9 million tournament ($1.044,000 winner's purse) at the Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas begins today with Renner teeing off at 12:20 p.m. in a threesome along with Andres Romero and John Senden. On Friday, Renner's group will tee off at 7:20 a.m.
