RJ Knows He Could Move…But Doesn’t Want to
May 21, 2008, 3:23 am Richard Jefferson is getting used to hearing his name in trade talks. Ever since the end of the season, reports have had him moving to Denver as part of a deal to send Carmelo Anthony east or to Toronto as part of a deal to send Andrea Bargnani south. His agent, Todd Eley, says the Nets haven’t contacted him about a trade and reiterated RJ “loves being a Net … likes his teammates … likes management”.

you can't blame the guy here. how many players in the league are dedicated to one team?

If this Melo tarde talk ends up holding water, he might wanna get ready. Altough it would be nice to keep him and trade Carter...how much is the difference between Carter's and RJ's contracts?

He's also the guy for some reason doesn't or isn't able to play the solid defense he was once known for earlier in his career. Let him squirm.

Nice Avy razel!!! Drazen P was tha sh*t!!! I'm still sad and wondering about what coulda been

Yeah, this wouldn't be happening if he played defense. And played like he did a few years ago.

its a business... and i wouldnt trade carter... jefferson has higher value but we all kno carter gives the nets more... im sorry, i love RJ but VC is more a benefit for the nets...

Carters is for about $2 million more for the next three years...then RJs ends and Vince is on the books for $18 million (it's a player option...but I can't see him opting out of that much money at 34)

Thanks. With the DC's bad attitude and Kenny Anderson's propensity for getting injured, it was good to have a guy who was all heart and gave it his all every night. He was the reason it made it easy for me to be a Nets fan.

Good guy but it's business. We wouldn't have traded away Collins either if he wasn't making a huge amount of money either.

On hoopshype it says it's a team option for the 2011/2012 season but they may be wrong.

Yeah, last year of VC's contract is partially guaranteed and is a team option. My memory may be deceiving me, but I think the guaranteed part is relatively small, like $5M.

That's my recollection too.

This one says it's a season earlier.

RJ, on the other hand, is making 15 million (might have a player option) the same season Vince has a team option.

How do we get to the salary links now? I saw they went away with the new skin.

I went to the home page. www.sportstwo.com

Here's a link.
It reports that Carter got $66 guaranteed over 5 years, with $61.8 going to him in the first 4 ($13M in 07/08, $15.2M in 08/09, $16.3M in 09/10 and $17.3M in 10/11).

Which means that for 2011/2012 season, Carter will get $4.2M because there's no way New Jersey pays him $18M when he is 35 going 36 (VC was born on January 26, 1977)

RJ+21 for Milwaukee pick

or

since you shouldn't trade your best player within the divison

RJ+21 to the Clippers for the 7th pick

... why are you having a fire sale on RJ? Also, Milwaukee would have to send $13M in salary back to us because they don't have the cap space either. Nobody on MIL team has a decent contract. There's Bobby Simmons with $10 for 3 years, Maurice Williams with around $8M for 5 years, Gadzuric with $6M for 3 years, Charlie bell with $3.5M for 4 years and Desmond Mason with $5.5M for 2 years.

Milwaukee has absolutely nobody that we want, either as a player or as a contract.

So sensitive about Jefferson.

I admit trading him to Milwaukee ain't the best move, but if I was to trade him I'd try to get a good young player out of the deal.

Just because I'm not a fan of a ridiculously stupid deal doesn't mean I'm sensitive about RJ. I want him to bring back someone good, not 2 cap killers and a maybe player.
It's even dumber considering Milwaukee is picking 8th. Not 2nd, not 3rd, not 4th.

RJ is discussed as a center piece of trades for Brand, J. O'Neal and Carmelo. Why the hell would we give him up for Bobby Simmons or Daz Gadzuric?

Milwaukee's in the Central Division, not the Atlantic

how bout RJ to Milwaukee for Simmons, #8, and Villanueva? then #10 and #21 for the Clippers pick. take 2 of Gordon, Randolph, Gallinari and Love. Hopefully giving us:

Harris/Williams
Gordon/Simmons/Hassell
Carter/Nachbar
Villanueva/Swift/Randolph
Boone/SWat

ooh maybe we could trade Harris for Gay too. Go UConn!
