RIP Bill Bridges and Dave Meyers

I know this won't be a long thread but I just felt these two guys from back in the day deserve acknowledgement. They were above average players, and more importantly, they were class acts. Bridges won a ring with the '75 Warriors and then retired a champ. Meyers kept the UCLA tradition going when Walton left, and then walked away from the NBA at the top of his game in order to spend more time with his family. Two good human beings who were a credit to the league. God bless them both.

Those of us who lived in Southern California in the early 70s were very familiar with them. When the Lakers added Connie Hawkins and Bill Bridges, Jerry West was happy to add to his non-deep champion team.

Spider Meyers was recruited by only minor programs and was a huge find by the Wooden recruiting system. Other college coaches said, wow, not only is he the best coach, he's the recruiter who digs up surprises. Meyers was quite religious. After being the best player on Don Nelson's Milwaukee Bucks, he shockingly retired at a young age. Rumors of being a little mentally crazy followed. Now he dies of cancer.
