OT RIP Don Williams

One of my all time favorite Country Singers passed away at age 78. The man had a laid back bass baritone that oozed with quality. Songs like Tulsa Time, I Believe In You, and Lord I hope this Day is Good. Listening to him always made me wasn't to run a chick to the floor for a nice slow dance or have a passionate "make out" session. Another of my icons is now gone, scary.

...also saw that Troy Gentry of "Montgomery & Gentry" was killed in a copter crash yesterday.

I heard of Williams long before I ever heard his records. He was at the same Japan Field Station as I but left a short time before my tour began. Worked with a guy who played and sang Country Music that knew Williams and always said he's was something special. Upon hearing his records in the early 70's I remembered the name and found out that he had in fact served at the 12th Field Station. I had always like the Pozo Seco Singers song "Time" but did not know Williams was a member of that group until a much later time. One of his best characteristics to me was his love of privacy. The man liked to play and sing, was good at it but still maintained a low key life style. Eric Clapton was a fan, did a nice version of Tulsa Time himself.. Montgomery Gentry, liked their work as well.

first bought a Don Williams LP after hearing his duet with Emmylou....

the country baritone gentleman himself, good soothing thoughtful and constructed music at its finest. DW brand of C&W is becoming a dying breed imho, ....

Monty had a similar soothing style imo, sad to see either or both go....


why the fk aren't the guys who claim to be musicians vanishing, those pieces of shit like Lil' Fkng Wayne, (there I swore I'd never mention that fk's name simply never to give him an ounce of exposure), Kanye, the Dweeber, P. Diddy, Snoop doggy doo doo, these are the guys I'd not mind seeing obits for daily....
