Passed away yesterday at the Age of 81.

I started to post the obit.

...Niekro was a real nice guy. I played 3-4 rounds of golf with Phil back in the late 80's and thoroughly enjoyed those times with him...he was very much "a gentleman".

RIP Phil...when you get to the pearly gates, throw God a knuckler...even he won't be able to hit it.

Mr. Niekro’s knuckler mocked the best hitters in the game. And it seems it’s a pitch that has died with this man.

Saluting a great career to one who got thee job done as supposed to have beeen don. For most of Niekros Career I followed accross the ppond. Eighty Five stood out because I was folloing a Yankee Team that damn near made it. RIP sir, your accolades and legacy stand out.
