I don't have any problem with this, personally. It's not like he was charging kids MORE... he was charging collectors. (More specifically, I presume it was the card shop that was charging, and he was getting an hourly fee or a per-signature fee or whatever... but that's a distinction without a difference.)
He's a pro athlete. This shouldn't shock anyone. He's still capable of being (and probably is) a really good guy.

Man, I totally understand old retired players looking for a little scratch to help them in retirement making a few bucks at card shows. But an active player in the process of negotiating a contract that’s going to bring him tens of millions of dollars charging for autographs?

Also, nobody knows what happens to the money. For all we know, it could go to a charity organization.
