So says Bayless on ESPN.com:

"Me and Bran talk about what I can do," Bayless said. "He can be the LeBron [James] and I can be Mo [Williams], a guy that can make plays."

My first thought was Roy is always comparing himself to LeBron.

Second thought was that this quote could have come from any kid playing ball in the driveway.

I would compare myself to him as well. Why not try and be the best player in basketball? Why not have the confidence to think you can be mentioned in the same breath as some of the greats? Remember that Jordan got cut from high school basketball. That didn't stop him. He had the confidence to alway improve his game and was never settling.

Could you imagine if Sheed had this type of mentality? He would be one of the all time greats at PF.

I love it! Thank God we have some players on this team that want to be the best. This just shows me that Roy is wanting to be mentioned in the same breath as LJ, Melo, Kobe and Wade. That's a damn good thing! That means he will try his hardest to prove it, which will only help this team.

To this team, BROY is LeBron as he controls how they play. I doubt he thinks he is the most dominant player on the planet.

As mentioned by others above, I find it refreshing to have our best player want to actually be The best player in the league.

That hasn't been the case in a long, long time.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bayless starting alongside Roy by the end of the season, assuming he gets a fair shake from now on.

When we drafted Bayless I always thought he'd mesh well with Roy as Brandon really is our PG allowing Bayless to play off the ball and guard opposing PG's.

I would shit a brick if we started to have 2 guards who showed up for 20+ points, 4 to 5 assist apiece, and approaching 10 foul shots each a night. :devilwink:

Or three guards who combined for 55-60 points and 15 assists per night. I still expect and want the three guard rotation of Roy/Bayless/Rudy, rotating through the two guard spots.

Exactly! That means two guards attacking the basket. Both with the ability to pull up and hit the 8 footer.

It also means opposing teams in foul trouble in the 4th quarter. Like deep doo doo foul trouble. :ghoti:

yep I too have been pining for that. IMO that would also keep Rudy happy here as he would have at least 28 mpg going his way.

I love Brandon, but he's no LeBron the same way Drexler was no Jordan.

I don't think anybody in their right mind would assume that. Not even Brandon. But it doesn't mean we can't get an offense to function in the same sort of way that those two work together in Cleveland, which I believe was the main point. Those style of players work good together.

Man you guys take things too literal sometimes. Obviously Roy doesn't think he's AS GOOD as LeBron--Brandon and Bayless are talking about the relationship of playing off of each other in the same way Bron and Williams did last year.

Jordan was never cut from his HS team..

As someone said in the comments of that post, it's semantics. He was cut from the varsity team because they wanted size. He played for JV that season instead. He still tried out for varsity, and he was still cut from the team.

Yeah I agree with this. That is being cut from varsity.
