Roy Out tonight vs heat

What about Shawn Marion?

Marion's been out the past few games with a sore groin... he's a game-time decision

Marion said he hopes treatment will allow him to heal enough to play but that he would be cautious because he does not want the groin injury to linger.

Coach Erik Spoelstra said Marion is a quick healer but the Heat wants to be careful. Spoelstra noted that Marion seemed to be moving better.

Roy, who has been experiencing lower back spasms since the last minute of Monday's win in Orlando, said he is "90-to-95 percent" sure he will play in the nationally televised (ESPN) game.

"The only thing I'm a little worried about is when I go from the bent position to straight up really fast,'' Roy said. "I woke up this morning like, 'Man, if I had just one more day - if the game was tomorrow night - I would be perfect. But that's not the case. I'm hoping once I warm up tonight it will get even better.''

After talking to Roy while we were both seated on the press table at AmericanAirlines Arena, Roy sat up and rose to his feet.

"See, right there,'' Roy said. "That's when it hurts.''

Roy said he plans to engage in a hard pregame workout tonight, during which he will experiment executing all his moves.

"Who knows, in warmups I might do some move and it might lock up,'' Roy said. "And I might have to tell coach, 'As bad as I want to, I can't move'. But we will see. The good thing is it's not the heel or knee.''

it hurts roy to stand up? and he is going to play? maybe he should sit todays game out and play friday

This post is wrong. Jason Quick is reporting at O-Live that Roy will play, 90-95% sure.

If he never sits down he won't have to stand up real quick. Play him 48 minutes Problem solved. LOL

It's a long season. Roy needs to sit out this game and get well.

We do have this guy from Spain I hear is pretty good. I think we'll be fine.

I think you are forgetting about LaBron. King James has led teams that wouldn't make the playoffs in the d-league to the playoffs in the NBA. Wade, when faced with the same adversity, mailed it in.

I did not forget LeBron at all. I clearly said that he has only Kobe to combat for the title of 2nd best player in the league. It is clear who #1 is...

I don't think he will be that effective in the game if he sits on the press table anyway - so hopefully this will not be a problem... :devilwink:

Look for Aldridge to float tonight because of his sore neck

http://trailblazerscentercourt.blogs...n-in-neck.html
I was wondering about that... When he went to the bench in the Orlando game, the camera caught a shot of someone helping him wrap a thick towel around his neck. It looked like there was probably a heat or ice pack underneath. Didn't seem to affect his play when he went back in, though.

KPTV this morning must have jumped the gun. Sorry to post and worry anybody but don't be surprised if he still is not playing tonight if he is still haveing back issues.

He's playing tonight. I have no doubt about it.

From MB:

Roy is Portland's best perimeter defender, but second on that list is probably Jerryd Bayless, who hasn't played much so far this season. I wouldn't be shocked to see Bayless get some minutes tonight, simply to defend Wade.

On Miami's side, Shawn Marion sat out their last game on Monday, with a sore groin. Even though it's still bothering him, he's expected to play tonight.

I would like to see Bayless get some time on Wade, if for no other reason than to let Brandon rest.

Maybe both LA and Roy should go to a miami chiro today and get some adjustments in.

Hold on there, I hate Kobe but he's still the best player in the world. Consider this who would you rather have in the final 2 minutes of a game? For me it's easy Kobe, Wade and then Lebron. Nothing against Lebron he's easily the most talented but when it comes to crunch time there is no better player than Kobe. Lebron still has trouble hitting his free throws and has moments where he seems scared at the end of games that he's going to have to shoot free throws so he passes. Kobe thrives in these situations. That's coming from a Laker/Kobe hater.

BTW- Roy is moving up the list on who I would want to have the ball at the end of games. I think he's benefitted the most from this tough schedule playing against guys like Artest, Bowen, etc has made him gain confidence.

Tbh, I think the Aldridge injury is going to hurt us more than the Roy injury. Aldridge can abuse Beasley on offense, but now with the injury, I don't think 20 foot jumpers are going to cut it.

Kobe is a great closer. So is LeBron. But overall - LeBron is a better basketball player than Kobe - even if Kobe is a better closer (something I am not sure of any more, either).

Last year, the one trick pony (LeBron) Cavaliers gave a much harder time to the Celtics than the deep Kobe lead Lakers. I think the last time the Lakers won against the Cavaliers in a head to head match up was in 2006 - all 5 games since were won by Cleveland and LeBron outplayed Kobe in each of these 5 games.

Kobe was the 2nd best player in the league last year - this year, with Wade healthy - he is either 2nd or 3rd - but there should be no question who the #1 player on the planet is - and it is not Kobe nor Wade.
