On courside miller and cho... Both said Roy will be out on current road trip. Likely to return on dec 30th vs Utah. Good or bad thing?

Well I guess this gives more playing time for Rudy, Babbitt, and Cunningham on the court. Then maybe this will make a better deal breaker to use that Dec 30th deadline for the player injury $$ that we have be allotted.

Continuity is a good thing, especially when the opportunity cost is a "pretty average for a starter" Brandon. Of course it doesn't mean we're going to win with our M*A*S*H unit in some really tough places to play, but hopefully it means LMA keeps up his beasting and continues to embrace the role of being the man.

Good for the message boards. After the next three games the question can be asked again: Are the Blazers better without BRoy? And the schedule won't be a factor.

Denny will be happy counting his advertising dollars. :ghoti:

we come home 1-2 on the trip, what does that mean around here?

If Roy came back Christmas day after three straight home wins and we lost, and then lost to Utah and Denver, then it would be all about Roy. Now if they lose all three his return will be easier. And if they play well on the road then it may give him a reason to come off the bench. So over all i think it is a good thing.

It means we played Utah, Golden State and Denver where this team never wins ...

Exactly. I never count on wins in these buildings.

I like keeping some continuity, but with getting some of the bigs healthy. When Roy is ready to play with the same "scrappiness" that the team is currently displaying, only then should he come back.

I like the way you think.

Smart move by Roy. Portland will probably struggle whether he is there or not, so it makes him look better if they lose without him rather than lose with him after their recent little win streak

Ah, but what if they win without him?

Not sure. I do know Milwaukee went in to Staples and butt fucked the Lakers tonight. Just sayin'....

I get the feeling Roy isn't going to play until we trade Andre....if that's the case then hopefully we don't trade Andre....

I think the organization should say Roy is having season ending meniscus surgery for both knees and call it good this year and the lockout year next. Roy will not bring speed or ball movement and that's how we are winning right now! EVERYONE is getting involved and having fun and scoring. Roy kills that flow when on the court. I don't give a rip if Roy scores 30 with no ball movement, no equal distribution of scoring, and our team loses!

Yeah b\c if POR had Roy on this road trip they surely wouldn't go 1-2 or 0-3....

What happens if they go 2-1?

The results are not as important as the play of the team on this road trip IMO....

jaynes....

This story isn't being widely circulated but Trail Blazer brass is already saying that Roy will not be making the upcoming three-game road trip to Golden State, Utah and Denver.

Joel Przybilla is not expected to be on that trip, either, but if Marcus Camby and Nic Batum are playing, this should be a real solid test for the Roy-less Blazers.

I would laugh if they did that after it's been made painfully clear that has no mensicii left to operate on.

They have a surgery that puts a gel like material in the knees like a brake pad.... no NBA player has ever had it done but at this point what do we have to lose?

Just as Blazers President Larry Miller and GM Rich Cho said last night, Bucher also said he is hearing that Portland is being very active in taking and making trade calls. "What I'm hearing, essentially, is that not only are teams calling Portland but that Portland is being very aggressive calling other teams. Not just with Brandon Roy, but basically saying, 'outside of Nicolas Batum and LaMarcus Aldridge everybody and anybody is available on that roster to make a deal.' They're not looking to tear it down as much as to rebuild it and solidify their situation, particularly making the playoffs, especially in light of what Phoenix has done, which most people look at and say that Phoenix has bolstered their chances of making the playoffs."

Portland's goal, Bucher said, is to reach the playoffs. "The Blazers are very eager at this point to improve their chances of making sure they make the postseason."

It would mean that two of the three teams Portland played are better.

Like, for example, Utah and Denver.

Besides which, Roy coming back or not won't matter.
The has looked WAY worse with Roy on the floor irregardless of the competition.

It's how they play, not the outcome that matters to me. If Portland loses to Utah and Denver they simply lost to better teams. If they lose to Utah and Denver by scoring less than 80 points then they are pathetic. Losing to GS shouldn't be an option, though they seem to play us hard every game

That's a fair evaluation.

If the team isn't going to contend, they can at least play hard and play sound fundemental basketball. Fans are really easy to please - just give us hope instead of despair.
