Wheels said he did not practice and is out indef.

500. Here we come.

I think the team wins at Memphis with a full day to prepare without Roy. Assuming Nate makes some offensive adjustments.

I think this is a good thing for Roy and for the team. Rather than press and try to play through this pain, Roy needs to sit down and figure out what his next move is going to be. It seems like he's trying to push through the knee problems and still be the guy that he was, but he can't do it because his knees are holding him back. Roy needs to rethink his game. He needs to come up with a different plan of attack. Until he can accept his fate, and adjust his game, he will only hurt this team.

So...Rudy Starts? I'd like to see it....glad we didn't give him away. With a more solidified future with the uncertainty of Roy, this could be a good opportunity for him.

It's 3 choices...

Sit out a while and hope rest helps

Microfracture

Play based on how he feels each night

Only if he plays well. If he sucks, like he has in the past, then we're stuck with a Wes Matthews who has yet to find his rhythm.

Rudy can be a fine contributer. He won't be a first option in a Roy-less Blazers, but a modified core of him + LMA + Oden might be good enough not to miss a step.

Yes and No. The team is going to need a little bit of time to find a rhythym with the new lineups. Hopefully more playing time over a few games will get them in sync. So I expect some bad times why they figure stuff out. I just don't think that bad play should last over a few weeks.

The problem is the Blazers have a severe lack of talent.

For 2 years all I have heard is how much talent we have. Now we have a lack of talent?

I guess when I play well I should have said "Play as well as could be expected for who they are". As they say in drag racing, "Run what you Brung". When we bring something different, we will run it. :)

Now Freeman says...

Brandon Roy remains questionable for Tuesday's game at Memphis. He did not practice Monday, opting for treatment on his left knee instead.

The problem is that the Blazers did too much "addition by subtraction" in which they gave talent away in order to "develop players" and give playing time. . oops. that didn't work.

Microfracture does not work on all bone on bone situations, didn't both our doctor and the LA dude recommend against it?

I wouldn't be surprised if Roy sits out the rest of the season. He rested the whole summer and broke down after 11 games. This sucks. At best, he'll probably play 30 games and he'll never play an 82 game season again. This totally blows.

I think speed is right.... If we are way under 500. Othrwise he will likely give it a go.

I think he'll have a redefined roll. we'll see what happens.

This shit gets better and better. Lack of talent? We traded Bayless Outlaw Webster Blake and let Sergio and frye walk. If that's talent... The twolves are contenders!

talkin' about ZBO. and not using RLEC.

Don't need Roy to beat Memphis. Especially this version of Roy.

Memphis has a lot more talent than we do across the board. Mayo, Gay, ZBO and Gasol.

Look at their depth. Horrendous. And they're still not a great defensive team.

They'll also be on a b2b. They're playing Orlando tonight at Orlando and the Blazers will have not played since Saturday after losing 2 straight so they'll want this game.

Look at our depth? Matthews has been awful, Rudy decent, Johnson hit and miss, Dante Cunningham, Sean freaking Marks? I would say without Roy, their bench is at least equal to ours.

Wesley Matthews scored 14pts against NO while shooting 50%. He's not awful, just been inconsistent in his short time here. Everyone else are decent backups. Rudy in particular was bad against NO but the 3 games before that he averaged 13.7pts/G on over 50% shooting. AJ is hit or miss but I can't say he really hurts the team.

That said, Memphis is still on a b2b and the Blazers will have had 3 days rest and will want this one.

Blazers are on the road and HCP (so I'm assuming the rest of the blazers) got wasted on Beale street.

Some notes on Roy:

Roy said his knee has improved since he abruptly pulled himself from Saturday night’s loss at New Orleans, but it’s not close to being 100 percent. Roy said it’s more likely that he will play Thursday when the Blazers return home to play the Denver Nuggets, but he will decide for sure at Tuesday morning’s shootaround.

“I’m looking at tomorrow, but Thursday is more realistic,” Roy said. “I’m going to wake up and give it a try tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes. I have to be smart about it.”

Roy said he has talked to team orthopedist Dr. Don Roberts over the phone and he believes the left knee pain is a bone bruise being caused by bone-on-bone rubbing and inflammation. Roy said his pain is occurring on the outside of his knee and is different from the pain he experienced last week.

Roy has not undergone medical testing since a New Orleans team doctor evaluated him Saturday night, but he plans to meet with Roberts Wednesday morning and plot a course from there. It’s possible tests will be done after Roy is inspected then.

“When I get back on Wednesday, he’s going to evaluate me in the morning and just see how I feel,” Roy said. “But, pretty much, he just thinks taking it slow right now is best for it, especially with (time off) coming up.”

So you are saying a collection of Tony Allen, Xavier Henry, Darrel Arthur, Sam Young and Hasheem Thabeet are better then the Portland bench?

Rudy Gay has gotten better this season which makes Memphis a better team then last year but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The next season Z-Bo leads a team to any kind of success will be the first season he does.
Gasol is good no question but he doesn't get many touches.

Connely <<<<<<< Miller.

Even if Roy doesn't play a single second Portland has a better team the Grizzlies.
