Rudy Giuliani was slapped by a worker at a ShopRite on Staten Island on Sunday while campaigning for his son, leaving the 78-year-old former New York City mayor shaken, the ex-pol told The Post.

Giuliani said he had just gotten out of the men’s room at the store on Veteran’s Road and was being greeted by a bunch of supporters when he was suddenly hit from behind — an incident caught on surveillance video obtained by The Post.

“All of a sudden, I feel this ‘Bam!’ on my back,” Giuliani said. “I don’t know if they helped me not fall down, but I just about fell down, but I didn’t.

“I feel this tremendous pain in my back, and I’m thinking, what the — I didn’t even know what it was,” he said. “All of a sudden, I hear this guy say, ‘You’re a f–king scumbag,’ then he moves away so nobody can grab him.

“And he says, ‘You, you’re one of the people that’s gonna kill women. You’re gonna kill women,’ ” Giuliani said, quoting the suspect, who now faces assault charges. “‘You and your f–king friend are gonna kill women.’ Then he starts yelling out all kinds of, just curses, and every once in a while, he puts in that woman thing.

” ‘You guys think you’re saving babies, but you’re gonna kill women,’ ” the worker continued to rage, according to Giuliani, also a lawyer for former President Donald Trump.

The incident occurred two days after the US Supreme Court reversed the 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion ruling.

“The Supreme Court made a decision,” Giuliani said. “You don’t go around attacking people because of it. I mean, go get it changed.”

The ex-mayor, calling in to the Curtis Sliwa show on 77 WABC talk radio, said the slap felt like “somebody shot me,” and “Luckily, I’m a 78-year-old who is in pretty good shape.

“If I wasn’t, I would have hit the ground and probably cracked my skull.”

The former federal prosecutor told The Post he felt it was his duty to call the cops — likening the decision to his tough-on-crime policies as mayor.

“I say to myself, ‘You know something? I gotta get this guy arrested,’ ” he said. “I talk about ‘broken windows’ theory all the time. You can’t let the little things go.

“I’m like, ‘I’m gonna get this guy arrested as an example that you can’t do this. And I said, also, in New York, we don’t prosecute people anymore And one of the reasons I brought crime down is I didn’t ignore stuff like this.”

His son, gubernatorial candidate Andrew Giuliani, called his dad “tough as nails.

It's no surprise he embellished the facts of the incident. Drunks tend to do that.

I don't wish anybody harm but, the republican party has literally declared war on America. If Rudy had been shot in the video, I wouldn't have felt surprise, nor remorse.

Haha what a poon. He got hit so hard that it didn’t even move him.

He must be a really fit 78 year old or his reactions are just delayed from being a drunkard.
ambulance chasing...he wants to see a specialist to make sure he has no permanent damage...this greasy tool of a toad has got to be bleeding money over the last two years...Trump didn't help him with legal fees.

You’re a fine human being, aren’t you? An elderly man gets blindsided by a thug, and you side with the thug. Go crawl back into the hole you came from.

You know who crawled into a hole and sided with a thug? Rudy did.... but check the video...that was not a punch ...wouldn't have crushed a grape..Rudy is lying but you can send his defense fund a big check if you like....

It was basically a pat on the back

It was a smack, not a pat. And that employee should never have put his hands on Rudy.

My mother is 77 years old and is unsteady at times on her feet. Just two visits ago she fell just walking from the dining room to the kitchen. Scared that absolute hell out of me. If someone smacked/patted my mom while yelling at her I would not respond kindly.

That said I do not think this person intended to hurt Rudy and I also don't think it rises to criminal charges.

We got a lot of "olds" holding political office, far too many IMO, but we do not need to introduce smacks and pats into how we interact with them.

agreed that no person should lay hands on another person especially someone elderly....that being the case Rudy saying he felt shot by a bullet and moved several steps was all bs...I saw the film.
the kid was wrong and arrested and charged with a misdemeanor so justice was served...had Rudy fallen down and been actually hurt...he would have a case as it is I see a gross exaggeration of the event that occurred.

It was a smack and he shouldn't have put his hand on him, I agree.

Just saying it wasn't as big as it was made to be. Just saying it's closer to a pat than a punch or a blow. I don't see how that could have felt like a bullet. That's just pure theatrics.

If that guy had done that and then said he was a fan and just giving him a pat and all that, it would have gone no further. The only reason it did was because the guy called him out and was against his actions.

I agree if I saw someone hitting an elderly person or intently hurting them, I would step in and have some words in the least.

I'm just saying I think this is being over dramatized a bit. It didn't appear he touched him hard enough to even knock him forward or off balance at all.

Again, what he did was wrong and he will pay for that.

This is green font, right?

I mean... You... You saw the video right?

Should the dude have done that? No.

My issue is that it raised to this level because of the exaggeration when it's clear as day it was less than it was.

Rudy got his feelings hurt cause he heard the truth about himself. That's what this really is.
